Dude is 18/25 for 317 yards and 4 TDs halfway through the third quarter. Oh and he’s also run for 80 yards and 2 TDs on 8 attempts. WTF else are the announcers going to talk about?
This is getting ridiculous. I love it. I can’t remember the last time I saw a team score 60. The Eagles could conceivably score 70 if they want to, but they’ll probably just take the air out of the ball now and stop all the fun.
If ever a performance merited an announcer blow job, it’s this one.
Finish him!
I don’t want the Bears 73-0 whipping of the Redskins to come off the books. Time to start kneeling down.
It’d still be the largest win and biggest shutout victory.
Yeah, but why share the mark if you don’t have to. Earlier in the game they mentioned a 63-3 (or something like that) whipping at the hands of the Browns too, what is it about the Skins that invites these things?
I was surprised to see Vick some in at the start of the second half let alone play into the 4th quarter. For a injury prone guy that’s silly and it’s not like Kolb couldn’t use the work and he’s not likely to fail so miserably that the Redskins would close in. Wonder if the Skins will use Grossman next series.
Washington also has the record for points in a regular-season game. 72-41 against the Giants.
Unbelievable game.
I can’t believe I didn’t watch the first half.
ETA: Pop quiz. Vick was the #1 rated quarterback in the league headed into tonight’s game (which I suspect hasn’t exactly ruined things). Who’s got the second highest passer rating?
Many props to you if you correctly selected David Garrard. I think I’m the only one that thought he’d finish the season a starter.
I thought the answer was Vince Young. It was last week anyway, IIRC. I guess that hail mary fluke pushed him over the edge.
So Vick set the single game scoring record for a QB fantasy performance using the standard 25 pass/1, 10 rush/1, 4 pass td, 6 rush td scoring format, even if you retroactively score players from the pre-fantasy era.
The guy he beat? Y.A. Tittle, who put up around 48 points in 1962 … when playing against the… [drumroll]… Redskins.
Apparently that team has quite an epic history of suck.
WHOOOO HOOOOO!!! Unbelievable!
Us Eagle fans get one “super bowl” type of game a year and if that wasn’t it, dang here comes a fun ride. Kudos to Vick and to Fat Andy!
Oh and to the earlier posts about Harrison. Search for his name if you want to hear me ranting for 3 years about how he’s mysteriously unused.
Two coaching staffs have completely despised Harrison here. I don’t know why. He’s never been in trouble. The coaches won’t say he’s doing anything wrong or taking disciplinary actions. They just hate him.
We had years of … Harrison gets 2 carries, he rips off a 9 yard and 22 yard run… he’s benched for the rest of the game and inactive for the next 2 games.
In 2008, when the Browns hadn’t scored an offensive touchdown in 3 or 4 games, Harrison rips off a 78 yard TD run. It was the only life the offense had shown for a long time. The camera cut to coach Crennel - was he happy that his team might finally get a win? No, he looked furious, absolutely furious. He was apparently more angry that Jerome Harrison was successful than he was happy that his team was successful.
Fast forward to last year under Mangini. Harrison is clearly the best back on the roster by far, but Mangini won’t use him until he absolutely has to because everyone else was hurt. So Harrison puts up a 280 yard game. Now Mangini practically has to start him. Oh, but he’s not happy with Harrison - after that point he tried to wreck him on purpose, by feeding him the ball 30-40 times a game and playing him on most special teams plays!. Harrison is getting fucking 35 touches a game, putting this team single handedly on his back, and he’s out there forming the fucking wedge on kickoff returns. What the fuck?
Anyway, there was no hint at all in the offseason that Harrison was in the Browns plans or… that he’s good good… or… any sort of praise at all. This despite Harrison pretty much single handedly winning 3 of the 4 game winning streak that saved Mangini’s job. He never said anything positive about Harrison and they traded back up into the 2nd round to grab Hardesty. If Harrison can take a team that can’t fucking pass at all and yet still put them on his back and win games single handedly - and even then, the coaches still hate him - what the fuck can he possibly do?
They’d have probably outright cut Harrison except that the fan backlash would’ve been even greater than it was, so they swapped him for a scrub.
ESPN has dug into that.
Bill Cannon holds the record with 62.
Ahem.
Yes.
I am sure that’s what is going to happen here, not that that fully explains why they did this in the first place. There’s no way they’re committing to him for five years. He’ll be out after two years, maybe three, and that’s assuming nothing better comes along. I’ve always liked McNabb but this is very confusing even in light of the benching a couple of weeks ago.
The Redskins have 3 Superbowl rings. The Eagles have…two appearance with losses. So who has the epic history of suck?
But yeah, when the Redskins lose they can lose big, and hard. I wish I could find a link to the ‘Blood bowl’ game.
Standard to me is 6 points for a passing TD.
