The Falcons are really that good.
What an effort by Davis there, all for naught.
Suck is really strong, but I don’t think any Giants fan believed the press they were getting this week about being the NFC’s best. They are one of the better teams though in the NFC.
They probably don’t suck but they have had an incredible string of luck in that their opponents were both sucky and had serious injury issues to boot. The Giants haven’t been tested much all year. They may well end up being just middle of the pack though.
What a disappointing loss. They sucked us in like Michael Corleone.
I can’t even criticize the coaches for their playcalling on offense on that last possession. What a tough place to be. Really, their best option was probably to play for the tie, but I don’t think they could bring themselves to do it.
Great game, though. Almost a playoff atmosphere (not that I remember what that’s like).
There’s no way we hire that guy. And to think, we could have had Tom Coughlin instead of Marvin Lewis.
The biggest problem with the Bengals is the owner, because he’s also the GM and thinks he’s a good one. He’s not. He’s incredibly bad.
This Colts game was yet another example of a game that the Bengals really could have won, but found a way to lose instead. The defense played pretty well against Manning and the gang, and the offense along with Palmer screwed the pooch, so expect next week against the Bills for the offense to put up gaudy numbers but for the team to lose because the defense will take a nap. And then in the following game the special teams will spot the opposing team a couple scores early in the game like they did against the Steelers.
Its a new way to lose every week!
Oh well. That was a very frustrating (Giants) game to watch. It may sound odd, but they really weren’t outplayed by very much, if at all. They gained more yards (480-427), more 1st Downs (24-14), were better on 3rd Downs (6/16 as opposed to 3/11), etc. In general they moved the ball pretty well, and the defense wasn’t nearly as bad as 33 points would suggest.
New York just seemed discombobulated, with dumb penalties (like 3 different illegal formation calls; WTF?) and, of course much worse, giving up big plays, most notably an INT at the goal line that Dallas returned for a TD (Nicks broke off his slant route, but Manning was releasing the ball). And the Giants Punter sucks, and they made dumb decision to punt on 4th & 1 at midfield in the 4th Quarter down by 13, etc.
Sigh. @Philly next week. I’m kinda expecting to lose when Michael Vick scrambles for 4 or 5 crucial 3rd & long conversions.
The Vikings owner told Ed Werder that he’s not considering firing Childress at this time. This seems like crazy talk, but I wouldn’t be furious if the Bears got to face him again this season. I wonder if that quote was given before or after the Cowboys win. If I’m Zygi and I saw that result, being that the Queens are in essentially the exact same situation with a supposed HC candidate on staff already, I’d be scribbling out a pink slip on the back of the bar napkins on the private jet.
The only good thing about being a Bills fans this year is our standards are low. So I’m happy knowing we at least won’t go 0-16.
Well, you may actually be right if the Browns have designs on running the table (or coming close) and making the playoffs *this *year, just in the sense that a win *might *help that specific goal more than a loss hurts it. OTOH, in a vacuum it’s a poor percentage play, since if you don’t play for the tie there, you’re more likely to lose than win (while of course you may still tie regardless).
But on yet another hand, being aggressive there may engender some good will from the fans and/or confidence from the players going forward. Or it may not (since losing as they did is probably pretty disappointing). But that’s all very hard for *anyone *to measure, especially fans who only know what they saw on TV. I don’t know.
I don’t know if the network sound levels play a role, but this has been the quiest damn game I’ve ever heard in the second half.
It always feels weird to me when players rack up stats in garbage time that end up making the difference in fantasy football leagues. Just seems unearned or something.
I don’t know why they were even bothering to hurry up once the game was over. Do teams like to pad their stats?
You’re killin’ me here, dude.
Did I hear correctly (once again not being able to watch RedZone today) and the Chiefs’ head coach refused to shake McDaniels’ hand after the Broncos/Chiefs game?
Yeah, but considering that Kyle Orton was still throwing deep midway though the fourth quarter when the Broncos were up by 30, it’s understandable.
I think it’s classless regardless of the reason. And I would (and have) thought so when it was “my” team getting pounded on and the coach acted like an ass.
I’d like to reiterate that Eric Wright is having a pretty bad year at corner. Not only did he and Ward get beat on the winning TD, but he was also covering Jericho Cotchery and gave up on the coverage when Cotchery came up hobbling, only to watch him turn back inside and make a great diving catch for a first down.
I’m sure TJ Ward deserves some blame because he’s a rookie and his coverage abilities are still a work in progress, but the Browns count on Wright to be a shutdown corner and he just isn’t.
The problem is that the Browns take chances on the wrong plays. I don’t think conceding the tie is a horrible choice backed up against your own end zone. But they should have gone for 2 instead of kicking a PAT at the end of regulation. THAT is the chance they should have taken. Mangenius my ass.
Also, why don’t more teams throw hail mary passes into the end zone in tie games at the end of regulation? Granted, the vast majority of the time you won’t pull a Jacksonville, but defenses are taught to bat the ball down; it’s not like someone’s going to pick it off and return it for a touchdown. It doesn’t seem like you have anything to lose.
Todd Haley needs to stop being such a punk… grow up and man up… when you are whuppin ass i bet he shook hands then…
Childress?? he’s gonna have to go back to the O coordinator role for a bit… he’s really burned his bridges with both management (roster control and moss firing) and the players…
Wright has always reminded me more of an Asante Samuel type - not a shutdown corner, but a guy who will go get you the ball, and occasionally gives up the big play because he’s aggressive.
DeAngelo Hall is another in the same mould.
It’s professional football with grown men. He acted like a child.
