Interestingly, Owen went on eventually to coach in the CFL, but coached three different teams in the space of four seasons. But he already had two NFL Championships under his belt with the Gints.

Of the others, only Bud Grant never won an NFL Championship.

Bud did the reverse of Owen – he coached in the CFL first, before coming to the NFL. In his ten seasons as coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, he won four Grey Cups.

(He also played in portions of two seasons in the NBA, and was on the Minneapolis Lakers 1950 championship team!)

Lewis should never have been a head coach this long, and I say that as someone who dislikes the idea of firing coaches without giving them a chance to prove themselves over the long run.

Oh, I heartily agree with this. He’s had plenty of time. PLENTY.

I also completely agree (for once) with Stephen A Smith…Marvin should have been fired in 2013 after losing in epic Bungles fashion in the playoffs to the Chargers.

Speaking of Stephen A Smith, it’s funny to me that in the intervening years since the Chargers loss and the making of the above video, Smith has gone out of his way to basically go on a personal crusade to get Marvin fired. Hilarious. And true.
