NFL Week 17

Brees 16 yards short of the record, and they fucking lost because the defense is terrible, as usual.

The Panthers did everything they could to help…

Packers 31 - Lions 21 - Final

Lions did it. 0-16 Season. Epic Fail!

With in Eagles’ win, they are IN THE PLAYOFFS!

The Bears loss doesn’t trouble me too much. I knew going in that we matched up poorly against the Texans and needed too much help to get in, so my expectations were low. The fact that so many of the problems in that game were self-inflicted is annoying but it further confirms how unworthy that team is of the playoffs.

In a way the shift up the draft order is a relief, since this team is talent poor and we’ll need all the help we can get some youth, speed and size on both sides of the ball. We desperately need a Safety or a Wide Receiver in the first round and O-Linemen and a speed back on the first day. Another athlete at LB and a developmental QB in the 3rd-5th rounds are also needed. Unfortunately, with all the money we have committed it’ll be tough to do anything through free agency.

I’m relieved that the Vikings pulled it out, but not overly excited since they barely beat the Giants’ second team in the second half. Without Pat Williams, the Purple have suddenly become ordinary at stopping the run. They need to find a way to shore that up quickly or they’re one and done in the playoffs.

So the Falcons and Eagles are the NFC Wild Cards? I guess that means the NFC games next week would be Philly at Arizona and Atlanta at Minnesota? What are the AFC games?

The Eagles still need to beat Dallas. The winner of that game is the other Wild Card.

Gotchya. I misunderstood your last post and thought you were saying the Eagles had already won. Didn’t realize they were playing one of the late games.

Eagles still need to win to get in, will be either the Falcons and Cowboys or Falcons and Eagles. Whoever wins will face the Vikings in the Hump dome.

In the AFC, the winner of the Chargers-Broncos game gets in as the 4 seed. After that it gets complicated, but the Ravens and Dolphins control their own fates. If they win they are both in. The Pats and Jets are in with loses to those teams.

Three games to go which will determine the AFC. The simple one is:

(5) Indianapolis at (4) Winner of Denver @ SD tonight

The other game is:

(6) Wild Card at (3) AFC East Winner

Where the AFC East Winner will be

  • Miami if they beat the Jets, or;
  • New England if the Jets beat Miami

and the Wild Card will be

  • Baltimore if they beat Jacksonville, or
  • New England if Baltimore loses and Miami wins, or
  • the Jets if Baltimore loses and the Jets win

Ok, thanks. I didn’t realize the AFC was still so up in the air. I guess I’m pretty NFC-centric.

Touchdown Eagles. I like where this is headed!

Cardinals just scored as well. We win this game and then we get Atlanta at home.

Meh? You get the game at home no matter what happens. Not that they deserve it, bunch of quitters.

Favre just threw a ridiculous interception on a screen pass and he may have been hurt trying to tackle the defender. The pass was returned for a TD and Miami now leads 14-6. Philly looks good against Dallas. It’s cool that we’ve got several double-elimination games this week, with Denver-SD still to come!

Man, the Cowboys look awful. Couldn’t happen to a better team, really. I don’t like the Eagles much, and the Andy Reid/Donovan McNabb tandem doesn’t belong in the postseason either, but anything that shuts Cowboy fans up makes me happy.

I can’t wait to listen to Cousin Sal on the B.S. Report next week if this holds up.

FTR: I just posted that as Romo threw a lame duck up to no one that was picked off and returned into Dallas territory with less than 2 minutes in the half. Then the 'Boys got nailed with a stupid late hit out of bounds that will give the Eagles the ball in the red zone and chance to go up 24-3 at half.

Time to switch over and enjoy Favre imploding, what a wonderful slate of afternoon games for a bitter Bears fan to feel cathartic about.

Unless I misheard, the Cowboys defense has become so pathetic they just gave up a touchdown to Tom Selleck. 24-3 Eagles a few seconds before the half.

The Eagles are all over Dallas. I don’t guess I care too much, other than I hate Dallas.

Wow. Dallas is imploding. After the Eagles scored a TD with about 13 seconds to go in the half, Pacman fumbles on the ensuing kickoff return. Akers hits a 50 yarder as time expires, and the Birds are up 27-3!

You mean it is December and Dallas is imploding?
