Pats fans were bitching that New England didn’t have a good tight end during the off-season, weren’t they? That #85 looked very good this half.
Moss’ catch was amazing. I don’t usually root for the Pats, but given Ryan’s bragging, I’m rooting against the jets
Skins on the move. Up 20 - 10. Everyone picked against them. They could be for real.
Lot of clock left.
But go Fletcher!
That Houston/Washington game must’ve been kind of nuts. 462 yards for Schaub, 393 for McNabb, and still counting.
OT, baby. And, for some reason that escapes little old me, Kubiak doesn’t let Rackers try a 53 yarder to win the game, instead opting to punt, which nets 19 yards. Kubiak has McNabb in his fantasy league and wants him to pass for more than 400 yards.
Huh, I wonder where Kubiak learned that little time out trick?
They DISSED Mcnabb! Saying,“I’m sure Mcnabb knows the overtime rule!” (or something to that effect)
aah, crap.
Steelers defense was incredible today. Held Chris Johnson to 34 yards rushing and forced SEVEN turnovers.
Well, if the Bears can get even a little pass protection the offense will be something useful. As most predicted Cutler is gonna take a beating in the process, but thus far he’s been up to the task and he’s actually looking a little bit smarter with the ball even under duress. That’s a positive and while the run blocking is still shabby Forte seems to be moving with a spring and intensity that he lacked last season. People somewhat mocked my comparison to Marshall Faulk’s skill set in the offseason but he’s shown some elite pass catching talents out of the backfield.
The defense is still uneven. Great linebacker play and inconsistent play from the defensive down four. Peppers isn’t quite as dynamic as I expected but he controls his gaps, stands his ground and is a physical force moreso than any DE I have ever seen. That play where he blew up Barber was a gem, even if it had little impact on the play itself. I got a chuckle watching Barber throw a tantrum and his teammates trying to cheer him up on the sidelines even though his getting steamrolled was an effective block on a TD scoring play.
We lost Major Wright to a hamstring injury this week, he came up lame covering the Bryant TD punt return and it seemed serious the way he hobbled mid-play. Hamstrings are nagging injuries so I’m not optimistic that he’ll help us much for the next couple months. I missed Chris Williams getting hurt, but he too has a hammy. Hopefully a LT will deal with it better, because we need all the people we can get on that line. I don’t like the prospect of a Omiyale/Shafer Tackle combo.
Aromashodu was no where to be seen all game. I haven’t heard a explanation and the Sun-Times is asking the same question and isn’t any closer to an answer. Coaches decision is the best they got. There’s been no news of any disciplinary issues and unless Bennett somehow won the job away from him it seems like he’s on punishment for something. We’ll have to see what happens this week with Packers week looming.
Nice game by Hester, but I think he should have reeled in that bomb in the 4th quarter that was just outside his grasp. Nice to see Martz exploiting him though. Another crummy Special Teams performance all the way around, I’m not used to this from the Bears.
Well… they moved the ball and showed they can score. If only Galloway was 1 step faster on that bomb.
Last week we had an ugly win, now we have a pretty loss. Not sure what to make of that. But we’re looking better than last year, not that that’s a high bar. Or any bar at all. I am cautiously optomistic.
Santana Moss looked good. I take back every complaint I made.
Boooooo-urns to NFL.com for eliminating the radio call highlight videos. Guess they’ve got to pimp their own cable network employees. ![]()
Holy crap, Tom Brady looks like Justin Bieber.
Thanks for not putting the Packers on the cover last week, SI! If you can keep that up all season long until after the Super Bowl we Packer fans won’t mind too much.
Well, my afternoon sucked. I’m watching the Patriots-Jets game about an hour tape delayed with the Pats ahead 14-10 early in the 3rd quarter, when my Comcast DVR (that’s worked great for five years) starts acting up like its been doing recently due to the new f***ed-up Comcast programming “upgrade” and abruptly skips ahead to the fourth quarter with the Jets up 28-14.
What the hell happened?!
The Packers now must come with a warning:
Contains Clay Matthews, may be hazardous to your quarterbacks health.
I checked out the free preview of NFL Redzone yesterday. Me like. Thinking seriously about ordering it for the rest of the season. The catch is that this was an odd week, with the Saints on tonight, so I wasn’t missing my team’s game. Most weeks, the Saints will be on Sunday, and usually in the early game, and that seems to be when Redsone is at its best. With most of the games happening at the same time, there’s always something exciting happening somewhere.
Dunno if it would be worth the subscription if I was only gonna be watching the channel during the handful of late games most of the time…
As for the action–Vikings and Cowboys fans are in for a long year. Favre has looked old…and really not very good…in his two games this year. Kept throwing to the guys is the wrong color shirts yesterday. I’m starting to wonder if he’s going to finish out the year…
Cowboys just aren’t showing much of anything positive. Offense isn’t clicking. Defense getting pushed around.
The Jets are a nasty bunch. Sorta remind me of the Raiders with Stabler, Casper, et al.
Hate seeing Vick have success for the Eagles. If he were to suffer a Joe Theisman style injury, I would not be sad.
Green Bay looks good…real good. I expect them to go deep into the playoffs, and if they get homefield, they’re going to be tough to beat.
Hoping to see my Saints put up big numbers tonight. I have Brees and Moore on my fantasy team, and if they combine for at least 12, I’ll get a win this week.
I wish I could subscribe to Red Zone. I have Bright House (Time Warner), so no such luck.
