Buffalo’s defense played a great game. The offense was good but I wish it were better. Still it was a solid win and the Bills start the season 2-0.
Panthers start 2-0 too. The defense looks like a Top 5 unit and the offense is doing enough. Cam shook off some early rust and looked pretty good.
What happened to Carson Palmer?
Seahawks game is going exactly as no one expected. Chargers are driving down the field like there’s no defense there, and the only Seahawks score was on a run where Harvin clearly stepped out of bounds and both the crew on the field and the replay folks missed it.
How are the Jets looking so good this week?
They were handed an early TD. They usually look good when they’re playing from ahead.
Ah, I’m Red Zone and missed that one. I mean, they showed it, but I didn’t see it. And yes, I could be watching the Jets game on CBS, but the Broncos are playing and my best choice is Red Zone.
Poor Mike Carey is really nervous and uncomfortable whenever CBS throws it to him to weigh in on a replay. He’s been accurate so far – he got the highly technical forward pass call in the Jets game right (arm started forward but pass wound up going backwards; still a forward pass) – but he seems like a guy who hopes there’s a power outage in the studio every time he’s asked a question on air. Hopefully he gets over it, I’ve always found him very likable.
Great win by the Chargers today. Seattle isn’t that great away from home.
So, what’s been everyone’s impression of how the penalties were enforced this week? The Giants/Cardinals game was called very tightly; the Giants in particular got a ton of defensive holding/illegal contact flags. If every game was called like that, it would be a clear detriment to the league.
Questionable/bad calls are part of the game, the zebras are human, after all. I watched the Seahawks-Chargers game and saw two close calls that might have had a major impact on the outcome of the game. On his long touchdown run, it sure looked a lot like Harvin had stepped OB. Much later, there was a really dicey Defensive Holding call that turned a sack on third down into a first down (I get the feeling that brushing a potential receiver’s sleeve gets called as holding/illegal contact – at unpredictable times). But so it goes. The officials are graded by the league and if they fail to uphold league policy adequately, they will not be on the field after a while.
I enjoyed that Ickey Woods/Geico commercial way more than I should have.
What about the new replay rules? The New York replay station let questionable TD’s go through.
ETA:
Harvin TD run; out of bounds
SF first TD; time clock
This Niners Bears game has been awful to watch. It’s like a Browns v. Browns game.
I’m glad my nephew is over so I have an excuse to change the channel.
Gonna be a lot of “QB controversy” talk in DC tomorrow. Fact is, there is no controversy. Cousins has flat out outplayed Griffin since the preseason, and everyone knows it. Granted, Jacksonville is fucking terrible, but they should have been able to put up at least a little bit of fight; instead they got absolutely destroyed.
Not that I’m complaining. It’s been quite some time since the Skins actually looked good.
As much as I dislike seeing the Bears not suck; it’s very enjoyable to see Colin Kapernick play so horribly and the rest of the Niners continue to shoot themselves in the balls.
Ugly start is turning into a gutsy performance.
Huge win for the Bears. Very banged up team gets a monster win in SF in what might end up being Peanut Tillman’s last game. Bittersweet.
wtf nephew…why did you divert my attention!!!
Bears game…
