NFL Week 21 (Super Bowl XLIX game time thread)

OK, that was hilarious. Nice to see a meltdown from the coaching to the vaunted defense.

To be clear, I mean the encroachment, not the stupid fighting.

Nice to see the undisciplined nature of the most penalized team in the NFL costing them their last ditch hope.

Despite disliking both teams, it was a great game.

Whoa, got ugly there.

Classy teams.

Speaking of “what…” WHAT THE HELL. Jeeze, what a stupid end to the game.

Eh, Pats are blameless there. Gronk might have run his mouth, but Irvin and Bennett owned all that bullshit.

that was quite something. see y’all next year.

Wow, way to go out, you bunch of arrogant, self-entitled assholes.

What a fantastic game though!

Sorry Wilson, I guess god didn’t want you to win today.

Feel really good for that kid Butler. Went from potential goat (though he didn’t deserve blame) to absolute hero. He played great all game. Kearse was in witness protection all game.

Why didn’t Belicheck call time out before that int at the end? That was odd.

And Butler actually made a real heads-up play on that miracle catch by Kearse in realizing that no whistle had blown and tackling him before he could score.

Well, the play call wasn’t horrible for second down (aside from not handing it to Lynch) but I would have thought it’d be a tight end brushes off his block and drifts to the outside, and if he’s not way open you pitch the ball into the stands.

But still, Lynch is a machine: I wonder if the call is going to end up with a nickname for the ages?

I’ve never been so disappointed in winning a game money bet.

I guess I can kind of see the idea of that play call: try the pass there, the clock stops on an incompletion, and with one time out left you can then give Lynch two shots. But does it ever look like out thinking yourself now.

Had no dog in the fight, just wanted a good game. And got one. Congrats Pats.

As a 49er fan who recently saw his team lose the Super Bowl due to bad playcalling inside the 5 yard line… ha ha ha Seahawks lost.

Since we just moved to Washington, my wife wanted our new neighbors to be happy. Screw that, I’m happy. I never thought I’d be happy with a fourth Patriots win, but I’ll take a loss to shut these bandwagoners up however I can get it.

On 2nd down, decision chain should have been something like: giving it to Lynch>passing to open or tall receiver at sideline>throwing it out-of-bounds>Wilson running it himself>throwing into coverage. The Seahawks went with the worst option. Just a bad decision there.

Yup. There’s some sense in trying a quick pass to keep the defense honest, but the quick slant in traffic is a terribly risky choice. If you’ve got Gronk or Megatron or another big body or you’re Aaron Rodgers you can risk it, but here it’s a terrible option. Jump ball to Matthews or a naked boot with Willson in the back of the end zone, sure. Pick play in traffic? Yikes.

And even that’s a stretch. Does anyone think the Pats are stopping Lynch 4 straight times?

He also was the guy that got away with tripping Lockette after he fell down on the drive before the Pat’s TD that could have ended it.
