NFL Week 8

Ugly win for the Giants, but when it’s only your second you take it and run. The Eagles are bad.

Calvin Johnson is a man.

I do not thing 100% means what you think it does.

Wow. Detroit looked like they were on that field alone for that last series.

Yep. Interesting choice on Stafford’s touch. If he’s tackled time runs out and he’s ceded the game. Reminds me of when the St Louis Cardinals did the same thing to the Cowboys years ago. Doubt anyone on either team was aware of that, probably about the time most players on the field were born.

Time will tell, but that may have been the biggest Drive for the Lions in decades.

4-4 + two straight undisciplined losses at home = Spiral completely down toilet.
5-3 + emotional win+easy schedule = ???

I’ve very tempted to put moderator powers into play and edit my prediction to change “the Chiefs” to “the spread”.

I cannot wait for this week’s “NFL QB’s on Facebook”.

What happened? Unable to watch football today.

Trailing by six Detroit got the ball back with one minute left, no time outs and threw several passes to quickly move downfield. The last was to Johnson ending at the one with about 10 or 12 seconds left. Stafford quickly got everyone to the line signaling several times he was going to spike it but to everyone’s surprised he jumped over his lineman with the ball outstretched for the winning touchdown. It was apparent even his line didn’t realize what he was going to do. It was not a ‘secret’ play, he just saw an opportunity and took it.

WTF. I just wanted the skins to beat the spread and for a while it looked like they might actually win. What the hell happened?

Anyone watching Steelers-Raiders? What piss poor clock management on this drive by the Steelers. Get the ball with 5 minutes left down 11 and milk it to now 1:30 left and burn a time out on a stopped clock. Awful.

PFM happened.

Welcome to the NFL, Geno Smith.

Andy Dalton with FIVE TD passes, the Bengals defense with TWO pick sixes…Bengals roll, 49-9. Best performance by the offense so far this season. Marvin Jones! FOUR touchdowns!

Wooot!

Maybe they just remembered they were the browns. Played a hell of a lot better against the Chiefs than anyone but Hal saw coming.

I love how nobody talks about Andy Dalton. He’s been playing really, really well in his last four games.

That said, helluva win by Detroit in the early game. Megatron with what, 329 yards recieving or something like that? Holy shit! 2nd most in NFL history? DAMN!

How’d Giovanni do? With the Bengals scoring 49 points, Bernard had to have had an outstanding game.

I liked the Dallas/Detroit commentators talking like the game was over for about 10 minutes before Detroit’s last drive.

This situation with Dallas kicking the field goal to go up 6 is a weird one. It seems like being up 6 just forces the other team to score a touchdown to beat you, rather than kicking a field goal for OT. You could probably even justify Dallas going for it on fourth down rather than kicking the FG.

I remember a Chargers-Giants game (must have been 2009) that ended similarly. The Giants kicked a FG from about the 5 with two minutes left to go up by 6, and the Chargers won with a late touchdown.

Hey, this is funny. From Advanced NFL Stats Win Probability Calculator:

2:00 left, 1st and 10 from your own 20, down by 3: win probability 17%
2:00 left, 1st and 10 from your own 20, down by 6: win probability 20%

Ha ha…Andy was too busy throwing touchdowns and the defense was too busy returning interceptions to be bothered with something as silly as a running game…

Speaking of which, your Packers might want to start officially worrying about that team from Detroit.
