It’s less ridiculous than Terry and Howie and the rest of the studio crew.
I came to pretty much the same conclusion under the same circumstances.
Well, i’m a Ravens supporter, so i admit a rooting interest in the game. But i’m also a sports fan who hates to see his own team helped out by bad calls from the officials, because it makes victories less sweet for me. I’d prefer my team to win without any help.
I agree that there were at least a couple of times that the officials could have called Baltimore players for holding or interference and didn’t, but i can also recall at least two instances when a flag could easily have been thrown on the Chiefs for very similar stuff. In one of those cases, the commentators also noticed it.
I admit that i didn’t keep score on the close calls and the missed calls, but i watched the whole game and i didn’t come away with the impression that either side had benefited overall from poor officiating.
Wow, I really didn’t expect that miss. I barely watched the kick. Even though the Packers have seemed to control this one, the Eagles are still in reach. When the Packers stop dropping passes it will be a different story.
Missing field goals doesn’t help.
So much for Green Akers.
I’d like to hear more about this. I think the thing is pointless, stupid and stale, but it doesn’t greatly trouble me. Yet I have a couple of friends who have what can properly be called a pathological hatred for it - to the point of insisting that the channel be changed when the robot appears.
Why does the robot inspire such strong negative feelings?
If they have experience with animation, then they know how much that dumb robot costs. If not, they know its a stupid graphic. Personally, the robot is not present enough for me to care.
Back to the game, I would’ve kicked no matter what happens.
Ok, so that was a good call, but still…
The announcers, about Andy Reid trying to call a timeout: “Took the officials a while to see him; that’s hard to believe.” Ha!
Also, Aikman is a moron for thinking that Philly should’ve kicked the FG from 12 inches out, down by 11 with 4 minutes left. Just like Reid is a moron for sending out the FG unit on 4th & 1 on the previous drive. (Though that’s not quite as egregious, of course).
So to be clear, do you think it’s an injustice that Seattle was in the playoffs in lieu of a team with a better record, or is it just the seeding that was the injustice?
What is the parlay on this kick going directly to Jackson?
An aside to Hal, when do you think they will stop referencing/replaying that incredibly heartbreaking TD return by Jackson?
I’m a tad bit upset McCarthy didn’t run a play action on 1st or 2nd down to get the first and end the game.
C’mon special teams and defense!
Tramon Williams!!!
Fuck yeah.
OK. 1 for 4. At least I got one.
Sweet! I dislike the Eagles.
I don’t think that interception was so much Vick’s fault. Not a great throw, but good enough to give his receiver a chance to make a play on it, and certainly good enough that he should’ve been able to break up the INT. The receiver just didn’t make a very good play — seemed like he took an angle to the ball instead of taking the DB’s presence into account.
Hooray!
I guess the strategy to go after Jackson’s and Vick’s knees worked out for them, but they still needed Aykers to miss two easy feld goals. Congratulations to Packer fans, if you’re still sober enough to read this.
51 years and counting. I’m loving it. There are two teams in Pennsylvania: one that wins, and the choke artists from Philadelphia.
Around the time Satan gets frostbite.
On to happier news: Haaaaaahhhaaaaaa!
Your tears. They taste like ambrosia.
