NHL April 2018 & post-season

Curious where that quote’s from.
Indeed, especially out of the gate, both teams were so hopped up that it was a bit of a turnover-fest, which was good for a chuckle, but after a while - quite the entertaining seesaw playoff game.

Oh that crazy Wilson character! He best keep his head up around Reaves.
I expect to see at least one flying one-timer from the top/left of the slot from Ovi, like at the beginning of game 7 against Tampa.
If I come back in another life, and am granted one skill, it would be that.
That one-timer, in particular, was not an easy one to pull off.
Dang.

The cliche is that a series isn’t interesting until the home team loses. It is interesting now.

Click what you quoted, eh.

Tonight’s game wasn’t a very good one for the Knights. They played well until they scored that first goal, then they started to slack off and look tired. Lots of bad passes and lots of times that our guys weren’t quite trying hard enough to get to the puck first. That ‘relentless’ aura they had in Game 1 was missing. And of course, our PP is shit.

Man did Holtby get lucky on that Tuch save: he was already in place and Tuch shot it right at his stick. That was at least the 3rd shot that should have been an easy score that the Knights screwed up, too. I mean, Holtby had a great game, but that save was a case of being lucky, not good. Still, luck counts as a factor.

Grats to the Caps: they were the better team tonight.

I guarantee the Knights won’t be sitting back on their heels on Saturday, tho.

That’s a little unfair to Holtby. He showed a lot of awareness and hustle on that play. He turned a sure thing for Vegas into a play where luck would be a factor. That’s really all he could do, and it worked out.

Luck certainly did play a big factor, as it does on any save of that sort. But I don’t think it’s fair at all to put that one down to strictly luck. If you watch the replay from a good angle, it’s not true at all that his stick was already there when Tuch made the shot.

Here’s a good article with one of my all-time heroes, Olie Kolzig, breaking down the save and what made it such a nice play - with, yes, a large element of luck as well, but not simply luck. There is also a slowed down gif of the play in there where you can plainly see that Holtby’s stick is NOT in position as Tuch begins to make the shot. And when you think about how fast the play was happening in real-time, I think it holds up as an absolutely amazing save. Holtby deserves credit for that one.

Sting and Shaggy? What madness is this?

Ovi!!!

Holtby did not make “The Save”. THAT was already accomplished. And while he’s a good goalie, I’ll bet he’s never done anything like THIS.

Who the hell is Shaggy?

Don’t hate, Guinistaisia.

Hooray.

Shaggy. Jamaican musician known, at least in the US, for a few hits: “Angel,” “It Wasn’t Me,” “Boombastic,” “Oh Carolina.”

It looks to me that in Canada, It Wasn’t Me charted the highest. For an American, I would have linked to Angel as the song to check out to see if you’ve heard of Shaggy.

And, to complete the links, here’s "Bombastic. And Oh Carolina. The Nineties to 00s were his heyday. I don’t listen to much of this sort of music, but I know all these songs very well.

I’m starting to think it might finally happen. Of course, I’ve been thinking that for years, and the Caps always let me down. I kind of feel like a 1950s Dodgers fan. Maybe this IS next year.

Grats Caps. Knights blew a bunch of great opportunities, made lots of bad passes and Fleury continues to think the blue extends 24 feet away from the goalposts.

The one time Holtby got careless, the Knights out-hustled the Caps and got the goal. But for most of the night, the Caps were the ones with more hustle (which is how Smith-Pelly’s goal happened, for instance).

I take solace in the fact that it’s only 2-1, but I also kind of wish that I’d gone ahead and put $20 on the Caps like I said.

Saw a Cezanne exhibit at the National Gallery. Heard Sting do “Roxanne”, “I’ll be Watching You” then left for a cooler spot. The Hockey was pleasant but I’m a little hoarse. :grinning:

I think there is a “The Save” every SCF. Yesterday’s news is yesterday’s news.

Or maybe one for each team.

Well, this is a good start. Smith-Pelly having a good series so far.

It sure is looking like the Vegas run is at its end.

It felt like the Caps were outplayed and they are up 3-0!
