At a pre-season game reception for my 10 years as a season ticket holder, I won a team signed jersey. This is better.

Ah, he’s a good guy, and certainly a hall-of-famer. I like Ovi. There’s nothing wrong with feeling happy for him.
He really is a genuine human being. And has never been an asshole player. I understand your allegiance though!
He is without doubt one of the greatest goal scorers the game has known. It is very nice for him and the very long suffering Caps fans.
I feel a little bad for Vegas fans. That was a hell of a ride you had but I can imagine that it hurts coming up just short.
Nope. No hurt. We’re happy for the Caps, proud of our Knights and ready to challenge them for the Cup again next year, and win. Come this time next year, that’s our Cup, baby!
ETA: Seriously. I was with about 15 people watching the game at a private party and not one of us was disappointed with the Knights in any way. We can’t be. We just had the ride of a lifetime. It doesn’t matter that the ride ended in one place and not another, it was still the ride of a lifetime.
The Knights basically just did the equivalent of being thrown out of an airplane and landing on an 8’x8’ platform in the middle of lava on their first try; we’re not upset because they didn’t hit the 2-foot-wide bullseye.

If I put on my tinfoil hat, this is exactly the series I would have scripted. Expansion team makes it to the finals to gain credibility and build a fan base, The winner is a long suffering team breaking a curse (See also: Chicago Cubs) with a generally well liked player getting finally getting his due.
Congrats Caps and Cap Fans…My team, “The Blues” (appropriately named) will continue to be the “Cubs” of hockey…only 58 more years to wait.

I was fortunate enough to spend a few nights at a local dive bar hoisting cold ones with TJ’s dad. He is/was a very fun stand up guy…I am glad he got to “Hoist” the cup with TJ.

Was hoping to see much more debauched tweets from last night, so Ovi really let me down.
Sure, he joins Beliveau, Lafleur, Gretzky, Lemieux and Sid for winning the Cup, Conn Smythe, Hart, and Art Ross trophies (and goal leaders at end of season), but, but… he can’t even come up with one hot carl, tea-bagging or duct-taped-to-the-ceiling tweet? I think I want my metaphorical money back.
Congrats to Backstrom for essentially playing with one hand this series. Kinda wondering if maybe Kuznetsov shoulda gotten the Art Ross. Smith-Pelly, meanwhile, was one of those rare birds who got as many goals in the playoffs as he did in the regular season - 7.
Ah, the changing times…yesterday, as well as in game four - during the pre-game warm-up: Fluery, at centre ice boards doing stretches, gets a whack on the pads from Ovi skating by. Not one Knight reacted, either time. (Well, yesterday, when Ovi skated by after his second trangression, Fleury reciprocated with a pretty substantial smack on Ovi’s shin-pads.) ‘Back in the day’, ('70s, '80s) that would have been grounds for bench-clearing brawls, like Philly/Montreal in (I think) '87.
Not that I’d still condone such hi-jinks, but that kinda shenanigan is tantamount to some gibroni pinching your SO’s tush.
Interesting that all of the Caps’ clinching games - in every series - was on the road.
Hope the Caps have been taking lots of Advil - no signs of a jiffy’ed penis on Ovi’s face today.
