NHL April 2019/ Playoff Thread

The Carolina radio announcers just agreed that the 'Canes played their game tonight and they still couldn’t beat the Bruins.

Boston is just too big, too strong for this Carolina team, IMO.

A Boston-St. Louis final would be the most blue-collar sports championship in the US in a few years eh. That’d be a very physical, low-scoring series, I’d bet.

Kenny Linseman?

Tuukka Rask doesn’t use a goalie glove, he’s got the Infinity Gauntlet.

He is GOOD!

Well, special teams was a disaster again, and turnovers sapped their one strength in the playoffs(5v5). At this point I just want to deny the Massholes the pleasure of a sweep.

Yeah, I didn’t think it was likely they were going to be able to split the first two games after watching the first, but they kept at their game (physical, pressure), and it seemed to work.

Yeah, it’d be pretty sweet if they could push it to five or six games, but that seems to be a tall order at this point. A sweep in the conference finals would suck.

The Canes now have two ways they can be like the Islanders – they can be one of the few teams to ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, or they can be one of the few teams that get swept after sweeping a series.

I’m kinda hoping for the latter.

For all the crap Tuukka has taken over the years from Boston fans, he’s playing out of his mind right now. Granted, the rest of the team is doing pretty well but this could be a repeat of 2011 when the Bruins rode Tim Thomas to the Cup.

Just curious, what is about the Bruins that inspires your hate? I completely understand the Patriots and Red Sox hate, but I’ve always felt that the Bruins team and fans were much more grounded and blue collar. Is it the team (in particular Marchand who I’d hate if he were any team but my own) or the fans or the history?

You do know that Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics fans are all pretty much the same people, don’t you?

Some are, but hockey fans are different IMHO. Much fewer bandwagon fans, more long term fans who know the sport.

Well… not all of us. As a kid I grew up in Upstate NY and New England, and for some reason or other I was a Celtics fan (Havlicek, Cowens, Jo Jo, Nellie), but not a fan of Red Sox (Orioles, and Brooks for me), Pats (LA Rams), or Bruins (Rangers, then later Whalers).

Hmmm…

Sabres hire Ralph Krueger as coach!

Just a jealousy of all the success the teams have had. Sox 2018, Celtics 2008, Bruins 2011, Patriots string of wins.
Be nice if you could share the wealth, ya know!

Go Sharks!

The Red Sox went 86 years between championships. Is that what you want?

Hand pass? Looked like it to me, but I’m not a referee.

Da’hell??? That was a hand pass!!! That was totally not legit!

I don’t think there’s much jealousy against the Patriots. We may have a rivalry there, but the Steelers were a winning franchinse long before they were, and we were the first to win 6 Lombardies.

Pittsburgh’s had a minor rivalry with them, probably from the time they threw a hissyfit over us changing our colors, a few other things. To be fair, they have some things against us – Matt Cooke’s hit on Mark Savard. (Although we’re pretty much even now I’d say, after Shawn Thornton’s attack on Brooks Orpk)

I also don’t like how their fans have cheered when players get injured, which has happened in the past.

It’s not a HUGE one, like the ones we have with the Flyers, or the Capitals. And there are individual Bruins I like. But it’s up there with New York, I’d say.

(The Pirates suck. I will grant you that. Bob Nutting is completely destroying them)

The Sharks have gotten plenty screwed on shit like this in years past. I don’t feel one but of “shame” accepting this win. We were the better team. The Blues were the better team in game 2, but not now.

Bring it.

I have to say that I’ll be rooting hard for the Blues if they win this series. (But right now, let’s ‘get over the blues,’ weaklings.)

Looked that way to me too. But I’ll take it!

There were several missed calls earlier. That one was merely the last one.

But I’ll take it!

Yes. Bring it!
Go Sharks!!!

Great game, terrible ending. Blues got robbed. Oh well, four more games to play. Go Blues!
