Game 4 will be a tough one. Take it, Sharks!!
Last night was a text book example of how to kill the hopes of the home crowd.
Not so sure about that. The Blues outskated the Sharks for much of the game. They can take solace in that and put it to use tomorrow night.
He is not The Rat. Ken Linseman will always be The Rat.
It gets a little fuzzy on the line from central Connecticut up the Berkshires and into Vermont, especially with the randomly-filled vacuum of the dear departed forever-five hundred Whalers. I’m sure there are guys in CT who are Patriots, Red Sox, Islanders and Celtics fans, and some who are Giants, Mets, Bruins and Knicks fans. And, strange as it seems to people who live in NY or BOS and think you need to define yourself to one or the other, I think there are some Vermonters who are Patriots, Yankees, and Bruins fans (I 'm not sure there actually are any basketball fans in VT); plus of course semi-Canadians who cheer for US football and baseball teams and Canadian hockey teams.
Anyway, the next NHL rules committee meetings are going to be fun, eh? Especially the guys who have to figure out how far back before a goal things can be reviewed.
While I know it originated with Pat Verbeek, I will always think of Marchand as The Little Ball of Hate.
See post #342.
More like The Weird Little Will-not of Licking Chippiness.
These conference finals will especially suck if one series is a sweep and the other goes seven, with Boston twiddling their thumbs and the other conference winner dog-tired and having to start the finals in two days’s time. Nah, it wouldn’t be “momentum” for them, and with the Bruins, it would be rest, not rust.
Rask for Conn Smythe?
That Carolina logo is looking more and more like a big fat zero.
Jim Hughson just brought up a interesting point threat never crossed my mind - legalize the hand pass. It’s legal to do in your own zone, so why make it illegal elsewhere?
Most hurricanes get downgraded to tropical storms by the time they reach New England.
Man, the Bruins have entirely outplayed the Hurricanes. The whole series. Canes could not get any decent shots, outdefended, everything.
Ouch!
Zing!
It’s not original to me, I saw it somewhere online.
Well, Carolina, welcome to the elite sweep-swept club!
Not sure this is the best outcome for the Bruins – every team that has swept a round has lost in the next round. Maybe they just get fat, dumb, and happy while waiting for their opponent.
From an interview Justin Williams gave after one of the earlier games, it sounded like the 'Canes started to believe the articles about how great they were just a little too much, and were not ready for the higher skill level of Boston, and the amazing performance of Tuukka Rask. Got to give the Hurricane fans credit – at the very end, they applauded and cheered their team, giving them support even in defeat. That’s got to help them next season.
I hope Boston does heal up the injuries, but not get lazy or complacent. I hope the final series will be great.
My key worry about Boston’s long time out is Tuukka; he’s been so in the zone and hope he can somehow stay there for however long it takes for St. Louis to send SJS packing (I hope). I want to see if Terasenko can get a puck past Tuukka, as no one else seems to be able to. He was able to solve Bishop when no one else could.
Agreed. He seems so level-headed and collected, though, I’m hoping he’ll be okay. I hope he doesn’t read or listen to any of the articles and commentary about him, either. It couldn’t be anything but distracting.
Yes all that time off could affect Tuuka’s timing and reactions. I doubt he’d listen to or read commentary.
Wow, I missed it before, but I just saw that the NHL admitted that the Sharks’s game winning goal should not have been allowed, and removed all four of those refs! Not much consolation for the Blues if they lose the series, but it must help fire them up for tonight.
