NHL April+Playoffs.

If I were coaching game five and got a 2-1 lead, I’d pull the goalie! :smack:

I expect both teams to pull the goalie and shoot pucks into their own net at the start of the game.

Don’t feel so bad, last year I was pulling like hell for the Red Wings to beat the Ducks in the playoffs given how bad the Blackhawks did against them (the Ducks)

Marchand just missed the literally most open net that I have seen this season. Just after 10:00 in the third period, tie game. In possibly related news, I have a huge client presentation at 8am tomorrow; I swear to god, if this game goes to overtime…

(Also: the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is the sneaky-awesome sporting event of the year. I watch 50+ Bruins regular season games and another handful of national games every year, and yet somehow - possibly because the playoffs run for six or eight months - I always forget how amazing the first round is. I’ve caught basically every minute of PIT-CBJ, CHI-STL, and BOS-DET, along with a bunch of other games. It’s amazing. You can’t go wrong with changing the channel to a NHL game for this two-week period every year. I can’t believe anyone is watching MLB this early in the season; even the NBA playoffs are a tough sell in comparison.)

Man I just saw Cooke’s knee to knee hit on Barrie.
That was brutal.

I have one better: I have to be at the hospital at 6 tomorrow morning for knee replacement surgery. And it IS overtime, dammit.

Well, thank goodness it’s not 2OT.

Best of luck with the surgery!!

Met Matt Cooke, did you?

That’s what picture-in-picture is for.

The Hawks take one on the road!

WHOOOO FLYERS!! Rangers got “Mased”!

One Flyer goal was total geometry! Goal: Read, Assist: Wall behind net.

Here’s something very interesting:

2013 - St. Louis vs. Los Angeles
Game 1: Steen scores winning goal in OT.
Game 2: Jackman scores winning goal.
Game 3: Blues get shoutout
Game 4: Blues lose 4-3
Game 5: Blues lose 3-2 in OT.

2014 - St. Louis vs. Chicago
Game 1: Steen scores winning goal in OT.
Game 2: Jackman scores winning goal.
Game 3: Blues get shoutout
Game 4: Blues lose 4-3
Game 5: Blues lose 3-2 in OT.

Spooooky!

Trying to think of a good one for Game 6, but all I got is Blues lose, scoring only one goal in an away game to be eliminated 4-2 in 2013 and 2014.

I hate hockey. Again.

Ron Francis is the new GM of the Canes. But since Karmanos thinks the team can win as is ,adn won’t discuss budgets, this is likely to be a case of "Same circus, different clowns. "

I’d like to know where the fuck all these Blue Jackets fans are coming from – they certainly weren’t there before.

I might actually be able to watch the Sharks tonight. I watched the first game, but then went on vacation and had to settle for updates on my phone and recaps after the fact.

Keeping an eye on the Avs/Wild series now to see who the Hawks will be playing next.

People tend to be more supportive of teams that win.

Except in Toronto, of course.
