IMHO Night Court is one of the all time great sitcoms. If I am channel surfing, and I hit a NC re-run, the remote gets put down, and I settle in for some serious laughs.
Thanks for all the laughs over the years, Reinhold. You will be missed.

Reinhold Weege…was a mammal.

I loved Night Court! He’ll be missed. (Say “hi” to your baliffs for us)

Between seeing “Night Court” and “Reinhold” in the title, I read it as Judge Reinhold. I would have been really surprised to find out he had died.

The character Dan Fielding’s real name was Reinhold Fielding Elmore. He changed his first name out of embarrassment.

Weege, of course, was a writer on Barney Miller before creating Night Court. The two shows fit together so well. I always felt that Night Court was where the people who were arrested by the 12th Precinct wound up being tried.

I loved Night Court as a kid. It was a bit of a privilege to be allowed to stay up to watch it.

RIP

Reinhold???

I like that they named Dan Fielding after him. I think there was an episode where a character was named “Weege” as well, which they also made fun of.

cochrane-Never heard that theory, but I like it! (too young to remember Barney Miller)

Not a theory by anyone else. Just my own personal feeling It’s just the way those shows had a similar whackiness to them. And the characters were extremely interesting and well-written on both shows.

I had never really thought of that, but I would have to agree.
Would have made for a great hour of television along the lines of Law and Order.
