Nikki Haley for President-Trumps plan

If you’d like to discuss further, feel free to open a thread in ATMB. No more in this thread.

If Lindsey Graham takes a job in the Trump administration, I expect Haley to be appointed to his senate seat. She didn’t have to resign to set that up, though.

So explain this, Mr Official Race Sorter:

(from her wiki page)

Yes. The idea that Donald Trump would ‘make plans’ to have anyone other than a clone of himself succeed him, is utterly ridiculous.

His only ‘planning’ is to be President For Life and then have the planet blow up—because what is the point of life continuing after he himself is gone?

This sort of implies that her parents were looking to have her crowned as the “white queen”.

You can infer that if you so choose but it has nothing to do with my point. She was not considered white by the locals, despite BigT’s expert diagnosis. Another point, her father (a professor) was working at a historical Black college, even though BigT is rather sure he could pass for white without the turban.

The idea that her “sligh natural tan” would have gone unnoticed in 70s-80s South Carolina seems like something you should have a little more evidence for before you guys assume it.

This woman has a 60% approval rating among Democrats, last I heard on NPR.

Do you think there is a single living Democrat that has a approval rating that high among Republicans (or even one above 50/50)? Hah.

Some people may view that disparity as a sign of noble bipartisan virtue inherent to Democrats, but really, I think it’s obscenely pathetic. What has Haley done to win the hearts of so many people of the opposing party? Anything at all, besides saying some vaguely mean things about Trump before serving as his lapdog (the recent press conference where she might as well have licked the feet of his daughter & son-in law was especially shameful).

This is why Republicans will always win. Sure, Dems will have a few victories whenever the Republicans royally fuck the country up -and for every electoral loss there are “moral victories” aplenty- but the US will always return to its Reaganesque factory setting. That’s because only one side understands power & how to wield it. Only one side knows you have to hate the other side in order to get shit done. And most importantly, one side knows you don’t give the other side even a sliver of respect or admiration.

Who knows? Maybe it was her name? Minrata Randhawa. That, combined with her fathers turban and her mother’s darker skin seems like a plausible reason for the judges disqualifying her. At least, as plausible as they didnt think she looked white enough. It was the 70s.

We seem to have very different interpretations of what “the 70s in South Carolina” means. You seem to be implying that hey, they can’t have been that racist it was the 70s. I’m thinking more:
27 Whites, Accused of Carolina School Riot, Lauded by Neighbors

That’s because you have an obvious and fundamental misunderstanding of Republicans. They “like” anyone that supports their POV. They’ve would, and have, nominated a woman (and idiot to boot), to a position a heartbeat away from the presidency, and they did that 10 years ago. As long as you say the right things, you’re in, and Republicans will even brag about it. I’m sure if Lindsey Graham came out as gay tomorrow, Trump (who doesn’t particulary have a history of hating gays), wouldn’t hesitate to replace Jeff Sessions with him in a heartbeat. As long as he says the right things. He’d probably give some tone-deaf pronouncement of this “historic” choice.

Yep, if Graham came out and said that there is no way that the president can be held accountable for HIS crimes, trump would replace Sessions. All trump cares about is staying out of prison. That’s right behind robbery of anything he can get his hands on. Full Stop.

And the republicans don’t follow through on these supposedly ‘right things’. Like supporting their base with jobs/health care and such.

But the republicans do say the right things and follow through on a narrow path for their base. It is easier to identify the racists and misogynists in the country now. That’s because they feel their voice actually has some substance, and they are more comfortable shouting out since they have a racist misogynistic president.

What? No actually, just the opposite. I dont know how you could have gotten that from what I wrote. When i described both possibilities as equally plausible and attributed it to being the 70s, that’s because the 70s was a more racist time period, especially in the south.

Not looking white enough and not having a white enough sounding name both strike me as examples of racist reasoning.

There’s a world of difference between having a woman on the ticket as an afterthought and/or a Hail Mary move and having one at the head of the ticket. I’ll believe Republicans are serious about gender equality when I see the percentage of female Senators and representatives approach those of the Democratic Party.

It seems her quitting the UN ambassadorship really is about money.

if she runs again in SC, for a lot of rural whites all that matters is the R next to her name.

And Trump is only leaving office one of 3 ways - death, impeachment or voted out in 2020.

Or he could serve two terms. Those are basically the 4 ways anyone would leave.

Anyone other than Nixon, you mean?

“Mr. Wood is 82 years old and toothless.” Brilliant.
