The point of diversity isn’t so you can get as many shades of people as possible it’s so you can get as many different viewpoints as possible from people from different backgrounds. Growing up as a first generation American to Indian parents is certainly a background you won’t find often among holders of high office in the United States and maybe an important one as more and more Indians immigrate to the USA.
According to Mother Jones, she ticked off the box for white on her voter registration form inn 2001.

He hates being president, and the GOP hates having him as president. But they are stuck with each other. The GOP gets Trump’s base to switch over to Haley in return for the GOP protecting Trump. It kinda makes sense.

I doubt she’ll get Sec State but Trump did say she’s welcome back into the administration in some new capacity.
I thought the same thing. What better way to stick-it to the whining libruls (and Hilary) than to position Republican Nikki Haley to be first female POTUS.
Maybe in 2020 they will shove Pence out of the picture “for health reasons” and place Haley on the ticket as VP, which would put her in a good spot for President next time around.
The Telegraph (paywalled article) says she’s looking at 2024, but 5-6 years is a long time to be out of the limelight.
Being sitting Vice-President doesn’t automatically favour her to become Prez.
Only two incumbent Veeps have ever been elected, and both succeeded very popular presidents. (Van Buren after Jackson; Bush I after Reagan).

Agreed. I imagine if a national poll were conducted asking what race Haley was, a majority would say “white”.

Wow. Have you ever actually seen an Indian person? This is what most closely resembles the “Indian” appearance most people recognize. This is Nikki Haley.

There are white Indians, just like there are white Africans and white Jamaicans. Nikki’s parents look Indian, but they aren’t particularly dark:

You do know how big India is, don’t you? You do know that it’s called a sub-continent, don’t you? It’s over 3200 km from north to south. The Tamils of the south are as black as any African, and the Aryans of the north can be as white as any Europeans - and they likely have European blood too.
I’m referring to what the majority in our society recognize as Indian, not what constitutes a “real” Indian. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have included the first sentence of my previous post. It just confused my point.

I would argue that her father at least could pass as white in the US, if he didn’t have the turban. It just seems that we don’t have much of an idea what white Indians look like.
And at no point did I try to remove her ethnicity. I just said she’s white. Since she looks white, she will have been treated as white. That’s all race is.
Trump doesn’t get credit for bringing on a woman he almost certainly thought was white.

I find it impossible to believe that Republicans would ever nominate a woman. They are the party of misogyny. To think that Donald gives a flying fuck in a rolling donut hole who succeeds him is preposterous. He is focused on two things only: staying out of prison and ripping off the government.
