I figured I get a head start and start this thread. Tonight’s the night the carver will be revealed.
Wait! There’s a twist! Oh look! There’s another twist! The whole season was twisted!
I loved it. And we’re left with stuff to speculate about until next season.
What’s wrong with Julia’s baby? Did Cherry really kill Ariel’s dad? Will Quentin and Kit come back to the U.S.? Is Kimber really finished with Christian?
There were enough plot holes in the Carver story to sink a ship. Weren’t there? I don’t want to rewatch the whole season to find them, but there must have been holes.
I missed last week’s episode; I know about Julia’s pregnancy and all, but could somebody spoil me on exactly what happened between Matt and Ariel (and her dad)?
I’ve said all year that Quentin was far too obvious to be the Carver, but they did it in a non-obvious way. I’m curious to watch the season over knowing the whole story.
Ariel did a genealogy project and discovered that her grandmother (or great-grandmother) on her mother’s side was black. She was afraid (1) that her dad would disown her, or worse, and (2) that the “black would start to show in her skin” so she had Matt get her some skin bleaching cream.
Matt tried to convince her not to use it but Ariel slathered it on her face and ended up with a serious burn. They went to the clinic and Christian (or maybe Sean, I forget) was treating her when her dad showed up.
Matt told him about Ariel’s discovery, the black ancestor. Ariel denied it, said she used the bleaching cream because Matt wanted her to get rid of some freckles. Ariel’s dad believed Ariel.
That was quite a finale! Even through the distorted vocals, I always thought that the Carver’s voice matched Quentin’s particular enunciation, but I thought it was possible the producers were also trying to throw us off. In terms of a plot hole, I really find it difficult to believe that the soldier who topped Quentin wouldn’t have noticed his abnormality.
As Quentin was pleading for his surgery, I really bought into his story. For the first time, his strange behaviors began to make some sense to me. Kit’s behavior, all-around, was quite an elaborate game, wasn’t it? I guess incest runs in the family?
Does Julia’s baby have Down syndrome? Why was Quentin trying to get close to her? Is the baby actually Sean’s? I’m thinking about the ridiculous idea that human sperm could ever be used in a facial cream… Yeah, this show really requires us to suspend disbelief around every corner, but it definitely is entertaining.
Whatever the problem is, I think Julia should tell Sean, especially since they’re getting back together.
I think Quentin was trying to get close to her because he knew it would piss off Sean and Christian.
The biggest problem with the finale was that no one noticed that Quentin wasn’t dead! The lack of blood on the floor should have been a clue, but even with that, doesn’t anyone check for a pulse?
I hated it. Whatever very thin base in reality it had it just lost. It needs to stay away from any storylines that involve the police and police procedures. I’ve been gritting my teeth over it for the entire season.
Since when have detectives been allowed to sleep with victims during an active investigation? When are raped detectives allowed to investigate their own rape?
Now, to cap it off, they have a fake death. So tell me, how is it that no one from the coroner’s office noticed he wasn’t dead? Aren’t they required to take a liver temp and do various other things to the body at the scene? A little fake blood isn’t going to prevent the coronor from noticing the body’s still alive!
And there was one other thing that really bothered me about it, but as it’s adult issue – and being new here, hence not clear on the rules about adult content – I’ll refrain from posting it.
lalaith, you would be okay posting something of that nature in this thread, though if you are uncertain you can always put it in a spoiler box and warn that it’s adult content. Chances are that anyone watching this show (and thus participating in this thread) are adults and not squeamish about adult subjects.
I enjoyed the finale and like the loose ends they left, but I hate that Quentin was the Carver. Though the twist of his sister being in on it too was nice.
Good idea. Thanks.
Adult content
Don’t tell me an experienced woman doesn’t know the difference between a penis and a dildo. A virgin might not, but, otherwise get real. The feel and movement of a real penis is completely different from a dildo. A dildo also cannot duplicate the motions of a penis at ejaculation and the shrinkage that happens next. So, if all those people had been raped with a strap on, at least one of them should have noticed something.
Nor do I buy that “I paid a college girl to pretend she was giving me a blowjob” story.
You make a good point.
Might there be dildos that do what you say? Mimic a real penis?
Wasn’t Christian the only Carver victim who was raped? He was drugged, and probably so traumatized that he didn’t fully analyze what happened to him.
To answer your first two linked questions.
Very adult content
Not in my experience. Not even the best of them. I shop at the “adult toy store” and I haven’t seen anything that would come close. A dildo’s a dildo. I’m not saying they can’t be a lot of fun, but they’re all fundamentally different from a real, live penis.
To answer the next question:
No. That cute male model who was the second one they patched up admitted he was sodomized. He was the first time we heard the Carver was a rapist.
The detective repeatedly referred to the Carver as a serial rapist.
It was made very clear that Kimber was raped. And, as a porn star, she certainly would know the difference between a real penis and a dildo.
He raped those women in the sorority house. That was when the strap-on was spotted.
And the Carver himself talked about why he raped…
I think they must be heading for a Dallas-style “the entire season was a dream” deal.
Christian and Sean both fly down to the convent (where was it again? Maine?) to make inquiries? They’re unaware of what happened to Matt and Cherry? (Did she survive?) Kimber gets ten serious cosmetic procedures in one go and is instant-Barbie again?
A rapist commits ten rapes in a few hours and it’s only because one girl got a look that they clue in about the prosthetic willy?
A lot of it makes less sense than Julia’s Rosemary’s Baby nightmare.
Still, it was pretty good. I alway figured Kit for the Carver. Close enough, I guess.
That whole bit with them cutting (heh) between the two simultaneous psycho butcher scenes was great.
It’s too bad that Cherry picked up the gun to finish Nazi-dad. If they had the sense to smash his skull in with the spade, they could have walked away from the situation without worrying about the law. All the evidence would have made for an iron-clad self-defense argument.
