For the math part of the rant:

Defense rank in NFL = 29
Defense rank in AFC = 14

Rushing defense in AFC = 16 LAST
Rushing defense in NFL = 32 LAST

Yep, they won that many games using mirrors. The secret is out. Rush the kitchen sink at 'em. They stink. Should have drafted a DEFENSIVE play, not soon-to-be-convicted Larry Johnson.
What to do for the playoffs?? If I were Vermeil, I’d fire Greg Robinson, the defensive coordinator. At least it might wake up the defense.
The good thing was the post-game fight between Hicks and Sims. At least they cared and didn’t just give the same stock answers.

Yeah, they’re going ot be toast in the playoffs. I don’t care what their record is…they gave up 107 points in the last 3 games. You can’t be giving up that many points this late in the season and expect to make it all the way to the Superbowl…especially with teams in the AFC who know how to stop the run…

Wait 'til next year? I expect near year they’ll be completely demoralized and keeping the Chargers company in the basement.

Side note: I’d say that it was the KC pass defense that blew it. Much of the running came pretty much after the Vikings had a 31-0 lead.

Second side note: The referees (and the replay booth) were on Minnesota’s side. For once.

Yes, it was mainly the passing in the Minnesota game…but KC had a huge problem stopping the running game in Denver.

Can’t stop the pass, can’t stop the run…what are you going to do in the playoffs?

Have any of you guys noticed that the Chiefs seem to get Pitted more than any other football team? I’ve seen at least three Chief threads lately, it seems.

We have to mock/pit them when they’re having a decent year, since it happens so rarely.

To be honest, the Chiefs were and are having a great year : Dante Hall has at least tied the record for touchdowns on returns and with one more touchdown, Priest Holmes will break the record for the most in a season, Trent Green had a perfect QB rating in the game against the Lions. And they’e 12-3 with a home game left. There was a lot of good in them this year.
That said, I don’t see them going past their first playoff game. The defense has fallen apart and the offense, while still good, can’t seem to string together enough plays to be worthwhile.

Maybe next year.
