No One's Mentioned <blank> Yet?!?

Oh, the outrage! This thread is 8 posts long and no one has mentioned your favoritest actor/movie/quote/legume evar?!? Whatever must you do?! I know - express your outrage! O-M-gee, everyone look at how much I like my favorite candy bar more than everyone else likes their favorite candy bar!

Didn’t see a thread? Post it.
Didn’t see a comment you expected? Then post it.

Quit getting so fucking indignant over being the first person with your personal opinion making mention of what you wanted to mention, and just post it. Stop being surprised 20 posts in that your obscure movie quote hasn’t been said yet, and just fucking include it in the discussion.

I can’t believe no one has said this, but man I really hate when people make jokes referencing the action the OP is pitting.

A-fucking-men. This is certainly a pet peeve of mine. JUST MAKE THE GODDAMN THREAD.

It’s not nearly as bad as getting all huffy that no one has anointed the thread by posting about Rick Schroeder’s scene in Crimson Tide, when it was clearly mentioned in the OP.

I don’t even understand why people make an issue of this! I usually read through a thread with my joke in head hoping no else posted it, because if they didn’t post it then I can!

Being the first person to post something means you’re being original.

Once upon a time people tried to be original because it implied they were creative. When you get pissed off about being original you’re basically saying “I want to be tired, and repetitive”.

Sometimes that’s just too much work for me, so I pick a keyword that’s likely to be in my putative contribution, and do a search.

I would say that I can’t believe nobody has posted that suggestion yet, but we haven’t reached eight posts.

The height of irony is when someone creates a thread to ask why someone hasn’t created a thread about their topic of interest.

This is post #8, kaylasdad. Go nuts.

YES! I HATE that! Nobody’s mentioned it? SO MENTION IT, FACKTURD!

Dang, some people sure do get upset easily. It’s just a conversational gambit, not a personal affront.

I hate when people post just to say they don’t hate whatever the OP hates.

Whatever it is, it’s really annoying. And it happens so often, that I’m starting to not believe the “can’t believe” portion of it.

The weekly TV show threads seem to be the worst:

“What, no 30 Rock thread this week”?
“What, no Office thread this week?”
“What, no South Park thread this week?”

For God’s sake, maybe the person who normally starts 30 Rock threads is taking an extra-long dump. Start it yourself!

I don’t even understand why people make an issue of this! I usually read through a thread with my joke in head hoping no else posted it, because if they didn’t post it then I can!

Me too! Usually someone got to it already.

I think some people like to point out that they are the first one to post something that is apparently obvious to them, not because they’re actually surprised they’re the first to think of it, but because they’re trying to look clever.

“Look what obvious thing nobody but me has thought to post!”

Right there with you, Rhthmdvl. I CANNOT BELIEVE no one posted that.

I CANNOT BELIEVE it is not butter.

That’s because you think everything is butter.

Originality is fine. I think the complaint is about posts of the form, “I can’t believe no one’s mentioned this [actor/movie/quote/legume] yet” or “What? No love for [actor/movie/quote/legume]”. In other words go ahead and bring up the actor/movie/quote/legume but don’t make a point of being surprised to be the first to do so.
