Or my towndar, rather. Clearly the scum version needs an upgrade. whacks it
Shhhhhhhhhhh!
Honestly, I just threw that out there. I don’t even have a living player list in front of me. I would not be surprised if there was a scum that simply isn’t present enough for me to have noticed.
What criteria did you use to select who you investigated? Was it bad luck or were these people destined to die soon?
Pleonast seems like a solid enough choice, but given that both you and storyteller investigated him, I’m thinking there might have been sufficient reason to think Pleonast might be ‘on the block.’
Of the others, I guess Mental Guy and OAOW would be solid choices for possible longevity as well.
Sorry Mahaloth, shouldn’t have given that away
First person I investigated was Pleonast, for me he made a massive slip in trying to justify his vote on day one. MentalGuy was my numbefr two suspect but he was murdered. Redskeezix was going to be my next investigation, but I was murdered beforeb I got the result.
I’d love to comment, but I don’t think I can with jeopardizing the unspoiled.
I just can’t believe it’s the game where I finally figure out what you’ve been trying to say all this time that you turn out to be Scum.
I thought about commenting on how similar your outlook has begun to match mine, but I didn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth.
We can still argue about whether votes for self-preservation are pro-town or not.
I think we should try a game with 48 hour Days and 24 hour Nights. The players don’t seem to want the first 96 hours anyway.
I agree. I have a wonderful idea for a new game that would incorporate that and some other additional non-traditional rule changes.
If you have a good game even in early setup, let me know and I’d love to share some new ideas with you.
I’d be happy with shorter cycles, except that weekends are typically impossible for me to play Mafia on. So I could easily miss a whole Day or a Night and half-Day. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
But the real problem is not the length of the cycle, it’s the fact that this group still preferentially lynches the players who are most active. And so by late game, we’ve selected the players who don’t talk much to finish the game. It’s a real problem that makes the late games less appealing.
My preferred solution is the multi-vote. Shorter Days hurt the town a lot (but not as much as low participation). I think multi-voting, where players can vote for multiple players at one time, help encourage participation and favors the town slightly. Players with votes on them tend to perk up and be active. Players should also be more willing to vote when it’s possible to vote for more.
I think it was storyteller who came up with the idea first. I’ve used it ever since in my games. I wish others would use it as well.
Also, I think there should be a minimum number of votes lynching threshold. I use 50%, but 40% or 51% work well too. Requiring more votes to lynch forces players to vote, which usually means they put some thought into the game.
My beliefs exactly.
Although in this particular case, the information revealed about Cookies’ role is an aggravating factor.
Scuba and Idle are scum buddies.
Ah, the chain finally breaks! Meeko’s “I think he’s being coached” came from a (presumably) town player. Heh.
Mahaloth can I be spoiled please?
Idle’s a good choice. I’d forgotten about him.
I’m very much hoping Scuba is scum, then I will feel better about myself in picking out Ed as scum.
I think that’s logically impossible.
Quoting Cookies in post #1195, with bolding mine. Is this a big slip that no one caught, or is there another way to interpret this?
"Seriously guys. Pretend it is tomorrow and take your best shot at who you’re going to vote for. Now vote for that guy and not me and chances are you’ll avoid a mislynch.
It is really that easy I think. I chose Town. I felt bad about hitting one of you before I was even your enemy and I chose the high road. It sucked that I was outed when I was. I would not have killed if I weren’t exposed. It sucks that I hit the one fracking thing with an instant double-kill bonus."
I saw that too, but it doesn’t make sense as a slip either.
Get your logic out of here! We have no need for you!
