No thread on this year's Lay's potato chip flavors?

I have to back up Kaylasdad99’s flavor suggestion. I ate the potato chip casserole of which he speaks growing up as a kid and liked it just fine, along with its cousin, the casserole made with potato matchsticks.

ETA - how about next year they do comfort food flavors? Who isn’t dying for a meat loaf flavor? Or a mac and cheese one?

Didn’t they do mac and cheese? Anyhow, it’s not that I haven’t had tuna casserole with potato chips in it (though it’s not the standard way I make it), it’s just that I can’t see people really craving creamy tuna-flavored potato chips, but who knows.

Loved the tikka masala ones. The picanha ones are just weird for me.

I hate cucumber, so I won’t try the tzatziki. And I can’t eat the Szechuan ones, though I’m guessing they would be my favorite.

It was bacon mac n cheese. just tasted like cheesy chips; I couldn’t detect the bacon flavor. Caramel would be interesting to try.

Boy, I must be out of the new potato chip flavor loop. I only recently discovered Lay’s Biscuits and Gravy chips–they’re just okay.

I haven’t seen those. Usually, these lays flavors are around only for a month or two, so if you don’t catch 'em when they’re around, you’re screwed. They are not permanent flavors.

I’m still seeing the biscuits and gravy flavor in stores, but since I don’t eat the real biscuits and gravy the chip version does not call to me.

I have tried the tzatziki and Szechuan Chicken flavors, the tsatziki was a bit underwhelming, something was missing but I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe the dill? I liked the Szechuan Chicken but didn’t get to eat many of the chips, the grandkids bogarted the bag.

Truth to tell, I was only semi-serious about the flavor.

But it WOULD be better than such abominations as espresso, and maple syrup-flavored waffles.

Biscuits and Gravy was last year’s winner so it will probably be around for awhile. They do bring some of the non-winning flavors back every once in awhile.

Thanks for the info. This current bunch, though, is not part of the contest is it? I thought it was just a bunch of international flavor crap to celebrate the Olympics or something.

I don’t think they are part of a contest. I think Frito Lay is just experimenting themselves. Maybe they are flavors that were submitted for previous contests that were not chosen for the final four and they decided to give them a try anyway. Ya got me.

The Montreal Smoked Meat flavour tasted surprisingly accurate.

In years past there was a contest, although this year’s offerings seem to just be “international flavors” or something like that. There’s no voting mechanism like int he past.

I love tzatziki and have eaten tons of it in my life. The Lay’s tzatziki chips didn’t taste like tzatziki to me at all—just sorta sour-cream-ish. I didn’t detect a yogurt or cucumber flavor at all.

I picked up a bag of the Creamy Bacon Potato Salad flavor chips today. I like them so far but I would have preferred some mustard flavor as well. I rectified this by dipping the chips in a mayo-mustard sauce dip.

I’m working my way through a bag of tikka masala. At first I wasn’t impressed, wondering if I’d picked up a stale bag. Turned out that the first few chips barely had any of the flavoring. They’re good but I wish they had a bit more curry.

Also tried the Szechuan chicken. They definitely nailed the flavor right now to the chicken, which kind of weirded me out.

Neither of the other two flavors are ringing my taste buds, so I’ll probably pass.

Only the Tikka Masala one is Kosher, and I wasn’t crazy about the first bite, but it definitely grew on me.

Wish I could have tried the others. Also wish that Reuben sandwich flavor from last year had been Kosher, I think I would have liked that, if the flavor was accurate.
