I will. I hardly post but the enjoyment I get from this message board deserves a lot more than what they ask for, I won’t hesitate for a second when the time comes to renew. Long live the SDMB!
I know this is for non-Americans, and I’m a 'merkin, but I for those of you on the fence:
I can only speak for myself but I put a great deal of value on reading the thoughts, opinions and perspectives of non-Americans. Sites like this are the only source for many Americans to get non-American-centric thoughts and opinions.
The international flavor of this board is one of the prime reasons I read and pay to post.
I already have, thanks to your pathetically weak and plummeting currency, I think I actually paid LESS this year than last :D.
Hey, good point, Shalmanese. I probably will, too.
Recently transplanted Canadian here. I’ll be renewing. I may not post much, but it’s worth it for searches alone.
I will continue to fight the ignorance of my cousins in the New World until “handgun” is a word a kid hears and says to its Mom and Pop, “Hey, Mom, hey, Pop, ain’t that what folks used to use when things was really uncivilised?”
I renewed already - a month or so ago. I think I’m covered somewhere up to 2007, what with the additional time left on my original subscription, so unless this board goes to hell I’ll be around a while.
Yes, please save us uncivilized louts with your enlightened ways!
Look, the international nature of the board is one of its main attractions for me, but I could really do without the condescending tone. Thanks.
American hair, British teeth, handguns, English hooliganism. They’re all fair game on the SDMB.
Heh, fair enough. Of course, the list isn’t complete without mention of British cooking, German humorlessness, and whoever we’re making sheep-fucking jokes about this week (whose turn is it, anyway?)
(Also: American hair?)
My favourite sheep joke is actually a clean one: New Zealand - a land of 60 million sheep, three million of whom think they’re human beings.
Just ahead of my other favourite antipodean joke: Australians - the best balanced people in the world: a chip on both shoulders.
Owl’s the one who’s got a fixation about that. I’m the one with the fixation aout guns. That’s how to tell us apart. We both love football, although he actually coughs up ridiculous amounts of money to follow his team around Europe. I just watch it on the telly, with a prawn sandwich in one hand and a glass of Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir 2001 (thanks, silenus) in the other. Shouting abuse at the ref, of course.
I’m sticking around. Whether I count as an American member or a non-American member is left as an exercise for the reader.
I have just renewed mine , otherwise how can I engage in such deep debates with Owl about such things as what is and what isn’t a current ?
I’ll be sticking around.
Probably, even though the political madness that rocked the boards this past year drove me insane, and that my current posting rate is at about 2 a week.
I’ve got a while to go yet, but I will be renewing, even though I do not have a high post rate, it’s`worth a few quid to be able to get involved in the debates I have a view on.
I get a bit annoyed with some on the USA centred threads even when they don’t start out that way they seem to end up being about America. In one thread recently a question about British law suddenly got overwhelmed by statements on the US Constitution.
I will stick around, if only to assist in educating our transatlantic cousins that the world does not revolve around them.
It’s a little berry that grows on bushes. We sorted that out ages ago.
Manchester and Newcastle may be many things (Northern, grim, full of povs and kestrel stranglers) but they don’t qualify as “continental” - maybe next year with any luck (to watch us get dumped out by part time latvian roadsweepers)
Owl I believe when you say netball you mean basketball. Unless you actually mean netball…the sport that NZ and Aus juggle first in and you Poms just were just left very sorry looking after touring here
I shall be renewing (hopefully, not a credit card owner but I have designs on my mother’s card number) I like the dope. Lots. For all it’s good and bad. If I don’t renew I won’t stop reading.
Remember: Basketball, Poms don’t play. Netball, Poms are just hopeless at.
I’m supposed to give a monkey’s about a bint’s game? Does not compute.
You’re probably better at knitting than us - what with having all them sheep. But its nothing to boast about.
