Non American members - who's renewing?

Boyo Jim IIRC was originally yojimboguy and changed it due to several misunderstandings about whom posted what.

TheLoadedDog

Now this has made me think.

I may renew and just go away for a few months and see how the land lies when I return.

Hmmmm…

Any way enough of whether I’m a diddering non-committal fuck or not.

Back to the thread.

I just have. between the half price for first wavers and the strong pound, it would be silly for me not to! Plus it would be terrible if I missed a chance to gloat at Owl by only a matter of weeks!

That’s so cool. hehehe.

Why, Thank you, Larry Borgia. You made me blush and you made my day.

It ain’t gonna happen old chap. No siree bob.

If you’re counting foreigners living in the US - I’ll definitely renew. Whether you like it or not. :stuck_out_tongue:

When do we have to renew ?

Well I’m staying around for another year… SMDB is a too good a source of debate and info to be a miser about.

Click on the “User CP” menu/link above, then on “subscription” (or was it “subscribe”?). It’ll tell you when you subscribed, and when it runs out.

You can renew whenever you want. It isn’t ‘exactly a year’ It’s renewed until the same fixed date - 28/4/2006

I’ve already forked out the bank-busting 4 pounds 5 p.

You wuz had…mine was a whole 1% cheaper!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought two years to start.

The boards’ just as polite/impolite as it has ever been. Anyone who thinks things are more nasty here than they’ve been before is just engaging in nostalgia.

This is quite easy to check. Simply search the older Pit threads. There was lots of old -style SDMB “felchwad” type stuff, and some of it was very nasty indeed, but there isn’t the sheer venom of the current board.

I’m not so sure about that either. I can point to periods where things were better than at other times longer ago. It certainly hasn’t been a steady decline.

I signed up in early 2001, but I think the board was at its best for me about a year or so later. I’m not sure why exactly - I know we got some good new blood around that time, so that might have had something to do with it.

Already re-upped about a month ago.

Sure, there’s been a general change in tenor the last while; but I always think of the SDMB as akin to Saturday Night Live; the cast changes every so often, and unexpectedly, there is a renaissance in quality.

And it is pretty cheap entertainment, when all is said and done, with the added fillip of actually learning something once in a while.

There is a certain US-centric tendency to the boards; but after all, it’s an American clumn, in an American newspaper that’s at the heart of all this…plus, I think the International Brigade adds just enough worldview to compensate. ¡No Pasarán!

Anyway, we must all continue to fight ignorance of our American cousins, particularly in the vital field of what, finally and definitively, constitutes a “smartie.”
