Another after dinner option for you attending Dopers is the adult gaming center in the Waterside above Ootback. This place isn’t “adult XXX” rather it has games etc. for adults. Alcoholic beverages are served there. (I’m doing a really shitty job of explaining this, aren’t I?) It’s in the vein of Dave and Buster’s gaming centers if you’re familiar with that chain.
Me thinks this is where I’m gonna be dragging the “poolies” Saturday afternoon. This is walking distance from the Marriott and I would have suggested it earlier except it just opened.
Okay, I need some assistance from a local Doper on this one. I was looking up the phone number so I could make reservations, and I can’t find it anywhere online.
SO! Can SOMEONE local please find the number, call the Outback and make reservations for 20 for me? Please? I’ll love you forever. Okay, maybe not, but I’ll at least buy you a beer.
OK, I called the Outback on Waterside Dr. They do not take reservations, it’s a first come, first served place. Soooo- I told them ‘heads up’ for Saturday, we are a group of about 20 coming in to eat around 6pm. We will probably have a little wait, but that is normal for an Outback anyways.

Public parking right across Waterside Drive (Or if you want to walk three blocks, at the MacArthur Mall).
I guessed about 10 folks would show up and have purchased:
2 pool tables 'til 1600.
Hot wings.
Chips/salsa.
20 premium drink tickets.
All this is free if you show up. Consider it my first round!
At each entrance to Jillian’s there will be a hostess. Just tell her you are with the “Straight Dope” party and she’ll direct you to the billiards room.
For those not interested in pool, but still wishing to attend, there is plenty to do there. An adult “virtual reality” gaming room, video room, jazz club, rock club, etc.
Should be a good way for us to get to know each other.
Casual dress, please. I shall be the putz in the Tie-Dye.

You can’t possibly miss Jillian’s…it takes up most of the top floor.
If it’s not too hot, Ootback has tables outside, there may be a shorter wait, and you’ll be a bit more isolated and can talk better.
Satan, your hotel is a ways away from Waterside…you’re about 30 minutes or so away. Ask the hotel clerk for directions, and I’d recommend asking for Highway directions. It may be a few more miles, but not as apt to take a wrong turn.
If anyone hasn’t made reservations, I also recommend the Holiday Inn at Portsmouth. You’re a 10 minute ferry ride away from Waterside, and the rooms are a bit cheaper.
If you’re in Portsmouth, and want an interesting expiriance, try going to the Commodore Theater (393-6962). An old theater that’s been restored and offers a dinner menu. Nice interior, and a great time.

Bluesman has had the flu all week, but we had hoped that he would be feeling well enough by this weekend to party with the dopers.
However, it looks like he is just not going to be up to making the trip tomorrow. We are both extremely dissapointed, but we hope everyone has fun playing pool/eating/drinking/debauching, and we’ll make it next time.
