I suck AT pool. Not IN a pool, not NEAR a pool…so get yer mind out of the gutter, sailorboy. I know you can do it. 
Well as things look now, I won’t be able to make it to the Norfolk meeting.
My daughter is having trouble with her car and will need access to all family cars for the next few weeks as well as family members to ferry her to and from work and school. Also, because of my back I couldn’t possibly make the drive up and back in one day.
I’m terribly disappointed that I will miss it. I hope everyone has a great time.

Melin says to say that she will indeed be there, and that she is looking for a ride back to Washington/Baltimore on Sunday. She has posted more about that over at Opal’s board. And as Falcon knows, Melin is probably also “in” for pool on Saturday.
I’m also supposed to tell you that she is sad that you aren’t going to be able to make it, Smoothie.
Except for me, my car’s presently empty both going down from DC, as well as returning. Have her e-mail me, I’ll be glad to give her a lift.

Thanks Randy and Falcon. I put off making the decision as long as I could, but we are probably going to have to rebuild her transmission at the least or buy her a new car. Meanwhile my car will have to be available for her to use. I would use an unhappy smilie face, but I know that ChiefScott is testy and I don’t need a nuke in my back yard. I’ll be with you in spirit if nothing else. Someone start a water fight for me.
aenea, I was checking to make sure your e-mail address was available in case we wanted to make plans there (you joining us for pool?), visited your homepage, and saw that you read Harlan Ellison.
You are my new best friend. We will have much to talk about. Ellison, as it happens, is one of my top five favorite authors, and he is from my birthplace (which he and I both hate) of Painesville, Ohio.

Sometime in the afternoon a few of us are going to go play pool. When depends on when Chief gets his ass off the ship. Where I dunno - Chief said he knew somewhere. So far it’s me, Melin, Phil, Peta, aenea, and Chief. If you’re in town, come join us!
6pm - dinner at Outback. To quote Chief: “It is the Ootback in the Waterside in downtown Norfolk at 333 Waterside Drive in the Waterside Marketplace across from the Waterside Marriott and the Waterside Marina – kind of a waterside festival area beside the water.”
After dinner: adjourn to a bar to drink, talk, and be merry.
Sunday: I’m staying in town all day Sunday, so if people want to do brunch or something, that would be great. However, my planning ends Saturday night. If someone wants to bring up the idea at or after dinner, fine with me!
