Can anyone do the Hearst castle tour on Friday? I get into town around 1 p.m., and the whole day is free. I would love it if at least a few of us could go then (as I fly out too early on Sunday for that to be an option).

I’m hoping to get in around 3 or 4 on Friday. I’m assuming that most of the other people staying in the suite will be coming on Friday as well, since they are paying for that night at the hotel.
Since the Hearst Castle tour is out for Saturday, we could do the tourist things like visit the beach or the Mission, and I think there are a couple of good wineries locally. There’s a BBQ place in Cambria that’s good for a cheap yummy dinner. I’m addicted to their tri-tip sandwiches.

Scotti, Try out http://www.expedia.com. They often give me much better rates then any other ticket seller out there. When I checked from Seattle to SLO there, it was like 299 dollars. Give that one a whirl. I apoligize if you have already tried that.
MMMMMM, tritip sandwiches. I am up for a any trip that involves them. There is also a really good BBQ place in San Luis, it is a central coast chain, I believe. Its called Mo’s BBQ. Yummy sauce, and great sandwiches.

Ok, I’m still a definite maybe, only problem is that I work Sundays and am having a hard time getting someone to cover for me. But, since we close on the 30th, I’m not all that concerned, and if needs be, I’ll tell them I’m not coming in…

Ok, here’s how it’s looking for Mauvaise, Strainger, Scotticher, Mercutio and me…
Scotti is flying in to L.A. on Friday afternoon.
Mauv & Strainger are driving in to L.A. on Friday evening.
All 3 are going to stay at my place overnight. If Mauv & Strainger aren’t here too late, we may all go out to dinner together, and anyone else in the L.A. area is welcome to join us. If not, Scotti and I will have dinner and then hang out at my place to wait on Mauv and Strainger to arrive.
Saturday morning (at an as yet undetermined time), we’ll go pick up Mercutio and follow each other up to SLO.
We’re staying at the Los Padres Motel, as it was the only place we could find with rooms available. It’s only about 4 minutes from the Madonna Inn, for those of you who are staying there.
Anyone who hasn’t reserved a room yet, I’d advise making some calls, as they seem to be scarce. Here’s a pretty comprehensive site that lists the area hotels, their addresses and phone numbers.
So are there any specific plans or activities for Saturday or Sunday afternoons yet?

I don’t think there are any official plans for Saturday or Sunday yet. I don’t have a cell phone right now, but was planning on getting one this week anyway, if I do manage to get one activated I’ll send out an email with the number.
Beyond that, there will be a big group staying in the Pick And Shovel room at the Madonna - you can call there. I just checked with the hotel. They don’t have a voicemail system, but they said it’s not a problem to leave messages at the front desk. If there isn’t a cell phone number available by then, I’ll leave a message for where we’re going.
Our suite has a big living room, so everyone can use that as a random hangout/meeting place if we want.

This does mean that there’s one or two beds left. If anybody is still looking and wants to stay Friday and Saturday nights, it’s going to be in the neighborhood of $75 total. You will probably have to share a double bed with somebody, but we don’t bite. Send me an email if you are interested.
Just to reconfirm, it is still looking good that I will be there (sans baglady).
I’ll probably drive down early Saturday morning and see how it goes. I haven’t made room arrangements but will likely play it by ear (I have no problem with sleeping in cars).
I’d offer a ride, but frankly I don’t often get to do solo road trips anymore so I am going to selfishly hold onto the silence for myself.
It looks like I’ll be going, though as usual I have no concrete schedule set up yet. I’ll probably drive down Friday afternoon sometime and leave Saturday night, 'cause I have to work on Sunday. Don’t know where I’ll be staying - depends on the money situation. Look forward to seeing you all there.
