This is good to see the SoCals stepping up … for a while, this trip was shaping up to be “Northern California drives three hours for no discernable reason.”
OH MY GOD! I’ve been away for several days and I come back to some very good news! Shit, I should go away more often ;). Just a small update. Things are fine here. I’m at the Boys and Girl’s Club up on 16th, or 17th street right now here in San Francisco for the Young, Loud, and Proud conference for lyric.org. It’s been great. I’ve been staying wtih several friends. I am having a good time, depite this being like a gay Real World (Oh god, i’ll have drama to talk about when i get back). I cant check this thread much this weekend, so you’ll probably see a post from me on monday, or sunday night, i dont know.

Pff…like it’s THAT hard to find your way to SLO once you get to the 101. Hell, the 101 runs right through SLO (and the exit to get to the right area of SLO goes near the Madonna Inn).
What kind of Friday stuff is going on? I want to do some Doper stuff on Friday as well.
I definitely want to be there, and so far my plan is to make it.
I’m just a horrible organizer, seemingly incapable of finalizing any plan until the 11th hour.
So far Rasa has offered me a ride providing I can get to San Jose at some time, I’m not sure when. So there’s option 1.
WoodstockB-B has offered me a ride on Friday afternoon, but I’m not sure how early I could get off work, so that’s really only option 1 1/2.
Snooooopy has yet to offer me a ride, but begging is beneath me. (hinting, however, is not).
So I gots me about 4 days to actually make a plan and secure a ride. I may even send out emails and phone numbers and stuff like that.
Now the first thing that’s going to happen is anyone who has offered me a ride of some sort, is going to chime in, or write me to tell me what a dork I am. But bear with me. I told you, my organization skill are for shit.
Bottom Line: I’ll be in SLO if I have to hitchhike there.

Did you get Rasa’s email about the room situation?
Jack: I talked it over with virtee and zyzz and we’re going to meet him at the Fremont station, as that’d be easier. It’d save you both from having to take Caltrain in to SJ… we figure if we pick you guys up there at 11, we’ll have plenty of time to get to SLO.
I emailed you about room arrangements as well, Mauv kindly volunteered Strainger’s room to you, zyzz and virtee. I believe the cost per person (assuming 4 of you in a room) was like $40 for one night. Drop me a line and let me know, k? Worst case scenario, you’re more than welcome to crash on our couch Friday night if that’s easier, not a problem at all!
Before it sounds as though I’m a procurer ( that is the right word, yes?), I did clear it with Strainger before telling Rasa] that it was 100%.
OK, psy and I decided to leave a little early. We’ll be headed off friday morning, so we’d be interested in friday stuff. We should be there mid-afternoon on friday. We made reservations at the hotel Shayna mentioned. Los Padres. Damn, I wish we had thought of leaving early before so we could get in on the Madonna action but, well you know how it is with kids…

Anyone else got any cheap ($40-$50)room situations? I don’t mind sleeping on the floor or whatever, but I’m kinda strapped for cash right now.

Which means there is exactly 1/2 of 1 double bed left, for around $75 for both nights.
In the living room of the suite there is a 31 foot couch, which could probably sleep 2 or 3 quite easily. In the picture it looks like there’s an easy chair of sorts as well. If you want to crash there, it’s BYO blankets at $20/night (everybody else’s cost will be reduced accordingly).
As far as Friday night’s activities are concerned, I am planning on doing something mellow, like cheap dinner somewhere, and hang around waiting for the rest of the Friday arrivals. It’s going to be a long day.
