Northern Exposure - An Arctic MMP

Woodchuck cider? I thought cider was only made from fruit.

We have cake at work today! YAY!!! I just had a slab of German Chocolate Cake. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!! I was good though. I ate all my lunch first. After all, if one wants dessert, one must first make a happy plate, right?

I had a conversation with mophandle guy just before lunch. He put his foot in his mouth. HEE! See, we think we’ve found a source for <snerk> plastic heads. <snerk> What he did was make a snarky comment about the town in which we found the source. He said it was full of the weirdest, strangest people he’d ever met. He also made allusions to the effect that he believed the local high school football team has cheated it’s way to the state football championship which it has won four of the past six years. I said: “Really, did they? Is it a really strange town? The people are idiots you say? Maybe I should ask my family about it the next time I go home to LaGrange, where I grew up and where most of my family still lives.” Yep, he was talkin’ about my hometown. :dubious: Ok, I’ll give him the weird and strange part, heck we’re proud of that! But stoopid and cheaters… I kinda let him know how much I did not appreciate that. Lots of apologizin’ and stammerin’ goin’ on. Wish I coulda said that to him face to face. I sooooooo have the upper hand in all our dealings from now on.

Just a driveby. It’s been an absolutely insane week here. Does everyone remember how **swampy ** feels about billing? Well, that’s how I now feel about forecasting.

But the good news is the forecast is done!! So I can go home for the weekend with a clear conscience.

I won’t be around Monday or Tuesday of next week either because I have to travel for work. I’d be excited about that except that we leave at 6:30 Monday morning and get back at 9:30 Tuesday night and there’s no time for fun in between. It’s actually going to be a work-filled trip, which I’ve never done before but I can’t imagine it’s all that thrilling. Plus the guy we’re meeting with uses 5 words when 1 would do so he goes on and on and on. Which is annoying. However, it drives my boss abso-frickin-lutely nuts, which is kinda funny so I guess that’s the silver lining.

Anyway, I’m sorry I missed everyone’s week. Hope everyone’s doing ok. Have a good weekend and hopefully I’ll catch up with what’s been going on next Wednesday!

So, is it gonna rain? :stuck_out_tongue: Hope your trip goes well. I get to do my fair share of bidness trippin’, so I feel for ya.

Hah! At this point I wish I were predicting the weather! :stuck_out_tongue:

Be careful what you wish for. You know how hot and bothered Bobbio and Sean get about female weather forecasters.

Gee. I heard it’s supposed to be very nice this weekend: 80s, mostly sunny . . .

sorry about the double post - I guess that’s one for **Sean ** and one for VBob

That’s probably for the best. You know how they squabble when they have to share something.

It’s made with only the freshest woodchucks.

I haddock respond. Your pun has no sole…

Yes, we really should think about separating them.

Oh, no! You’re not singing this tuna again.

I’m sharked you would say such a thing but I won’t shad any tears over it.

so my cousin spent yesterday afternoon at the Museum of Natural History (NYC) 's Darwin Exhibit - and shared with me this interesting bit of trivia -
Darwin’s mom was a Wedgewood (of fancy dish fame) so was his wife, who was his first cousin - they had 10 kids - to which I thought “survival of the fittest explains why we never heard from any of his offspring”

Good thing…do you sea sponge around here?

Rosie, bwah!

I wanna pun, I wanna pun! But my mind doesn’t work that way. ::pout:: Oh, well, I can’t come up with limericks or clarihews, either. Or haiku, for that matter. I just don’t think fast enough.

Since I can’t make any funnies, here are some pictures instead: my new knitting bag, my current knitting project and some cookie jars. I inherited these cookie jars years ago from a partner I supported who didn’t want lug them across country yet again.

For lunch, I had a fruit and cheese tray from Starbucks. It was surprisingly good: grapes, apple, strawberry (1), baby Brie, dill Havarti, and walnut cranberry raisin bread. Oh, and either very mild cheddar or real American cheese that wasn’t as tasty as the rest.

Oh for the love of Cod, I hope I’m not gonna keep herring this from you kids all day!

I just went to an interview down at Albany Medical College and I really hope I get this job. The pay is better than what I make; it’s more in line with what people in my position get in the field, plus good bennies, plus tuition reimbuirsement after 6 mos. The lady was really nice but the decision takes a couple of weeks.

Question to all - what’s the protocol with thank you notes now? Last time I sent one via snail mail, but this lady gave me her e-mail addy and encouraged me to write her with any questions. I’d like to start up an e-mail relationship with her and a thank you e-mail sounds like a good way, but do you think it’s too casual? Should I do both, perhaps?

BTW, Rosie, I got curious and looked up Darwin’s kids. Interesting, no?
