Not very clever in the MMP

Back from getting ice. What a soggy, miserable day!! I still need to run to the deli for slaw. I’ve put the leaf into the dining table and the dining room is vacuumed. Living room and family room next. Tea is brewed, chicken is out thawing so I can skewer it for the rotisserie.

Gotta build the deviled eggs, cut up veggies and fruit for their respective trays, and choose the bowls for the various snackies. Oh, yeah, and the beans…

Hope I don’t fall asleep. <yawn>

Golden Corral is barracks food. It ain’t fabulous, nor will you get ptomaine from it. The GC niche in my culinary experince is it is the place to go when you could eat a gorrilla and don’t have time to sit down anywhere else.

Blurf we don’t have a Golden Corral here. Nor any kind of buffet.

I plan to read and sleep the day away. Hubby will bring me some tacos from the food truck a little later. It is usually very good.

Moooommmm Too bad about the rain today. Y’all have fun anyway.

I’m not tacky!

The heavy rain will be ending within the hour. Should make the drive easier.

The rain is a lot lighter hereabouts. But the forecasts still call for showers thru the afternoon. We shall see.

I have come to the conclusion that planning a party is much more enjoyable than all the work leading up to the execution. Now I know what people hire party planners!

And just think - when everyone leaves, I get to clean up! WOOHOO!!!

I’m gonna have to insist on a group photo of the gathered Mumpers.

Me too! It will be nice to see some of the people without the faces blurred or holding numbers across their chests!

Our best to everyone there and sad to be missing it. Darn adulthood responsibilities.

One of you stay relatively sober to speak to the policeman.

Happy party day, Mooooom!

ruble, I remember going to one of the buffets that you stood by the carousel to get your food when I was a kid. I think it was calledDuff’s. I’m like Moooom, in that I prefer my food delivered to my table and bobbio on the quality.

I got out on the bike for a little bit today. I rode with the guy who stores it for me and we just tooled around Hermitage, Donelson and East Nashville for about an hour before stopping for brunch. I’m a little sore, but dang, itsure felt good to ride again.

Oddly, there aren’t too many general food buffets around here, but there are a handful of Chinese buffets. Same MO - generally edible, generally non harmful food for the masses, which means it’s usually on the bland side.

Either kind (Chinese or Golden Corral-like) are a bad investment for us. DH can’t eat much at any one time, and for me, they tend to change a rumbly tummy into a grumbly tummy.

Guten Tag.

Happy party day Mooomm and assembled masses! I would also like a picture.

When I was a kid I thought buffets were the bomb! I can even remember that we went to one where they weighed you when you went in. Now, with the exception of the occasional Sunday brunch, they aren’t anything exciting.

Around here we’ve got Hometown Buffet and Sizzler’s.

Happy Satiddy all!

Where does it get you? Wrists? Mine is usually elbows these days but I blame a lot of that on work and not usually having my arms as straight in front of me as the handlebars.

We have a ton of Chinese buffets but here those tend to be the real crap-shoot. At least once a month or or two are popping up in the news combined with the words "The health department found … " Hence the tagline I use now and then — control the pet population; eat at a Chinese buffet at least once a month.

Howdy Y’all! We’ve been kinda bzzy today. Mowage was accomplished this mornin’ then this afternoon we cleaned off the back porch at da cave cause da outside of da cave is gettin’ pressure washed Moanday mornin’. Whilst doin’ so, I decided to get rid of some stuff like some old chairs etc. We loaded it up on twuck and I took twuck over to JDD’s place and dumped the stuff in the alley behind his house. He lives in town and in town, they pick up stuff in the alley. So I do that. Yes, it’s sorta wrong but I do it still. Besides I am bettin’ those chairs will disappear sometime tonight or tomorrow.

Hope the partiers are havin’ fun! Who won the coaster toss? Who needs bail money?

We had a Ryan’s here but it closed up over night about six weeks ago. :frowning: The one good Chinese place was sold to other owners and it’s now the bad Chinese place. We have a not too shabby local [del]hog trough[/del] buffet place and a couple of pretty good Mexican places. Plus such culinary delights as Three Squares Diner, Waffle House, Pearly’s, and <snerk> The Quickie! <snerk>

Thanks for the party Mom, that was fun!

Everyone has gone, and the perishables are put away. I have a full rack of ribs left, plus a few cut pieces, 5 chicken legs, most of the trail mix, plus fruit, veggies, chips, brownies, cake, and I don’t know what else might be out there. Bunches of folks took leftovers, which is fine. I had to run a damp mop over the floor - my sister spilled some Fireball and made a sticky mess.

There are pics on FB at the invite site, including the group shot of Tugig, BBBobbio, MetalMouse and me. There was much conversation and laughter and dogs and I’m exhausted!!

**MetalMouse **brought me a really cool mug from Egypt and my mom’s friend Jeanette gave me a piece of lace that her mother had made - it’s really pretty! My high school friend Denise brought her dog, so we had 3 puppehs. Taz was locked in the basement most of the time, but I let him out around 6 - poor kitteh. Ziva is still under the bed.

I expect I’ll sleep like the dead tonight, with or without Mel.

ruble, I herniated a disk in my lower back a few weeks ago getting on the bike and hav been taking PT for it. (my third goal was to get back on the bike:p ) It got me in the lower back and the shoulders today.

swampy we have all of the usual chain restaurants (my town has the corporate HQ for Crackerbarrel), including a Ryan’s down the street. We also have the Sunset for comfort food (stuff your mama would fix for you and 70 year old waitresses who call you sweetie), a couple of decent Mexican places, a really good Thai restaurant, several Chinese buffets and one sit down, a couple of Italian places, two Greek, two Japanese and the awesome-for-breakfast Uncle Pete’s truck stop (a real honest to goodness old school truck stop).

We have to go to Nashville for anything else.

Looks like y’all had a blast! Wish I could have been there but 1172 miles is just a bit much and the money would too much for a one day event. I have asked before and will ask again Why couldn’t my parents have been rich? I will save up for the next one Mmmmooooommmm. When is it?

Good grief, **Butters **- I still haven’t finished cleaning up from this one!!!

**Tugig **offered to host a gathering soon - we’ll see if he follows thru.

And I still want to come to the Keys, but it’ll probably be no sooner than next year. With luck, we’ll meet eventually.

I find most of the commercial buffets bland & lousy.
Though we did go to a Golden Corral for breakfast when we were at some festival last year (Adirondacks maybe?). They had a chocolate fountain. Just about everything ended up going thru that chocolate fountain by someone in our group; not just desserts, but bacon, bread pudding, etc.

Throw one or two on photobucket & link here.
