The crazy went to 11-73 tonight([Spinal tap]It’s one crazier than 10-73[/Spinal Tap]) I wish I had one the lottery, I could have gone to Moooommmmm’s party instead.
A Ruutu sweater, cargo shorts with flipflops and a giant foam puck on your head isn’t tacky.
That’s why you should have paid me to come. I enjoy cleaning.
I will make one of these. I just need my shift supervisors to stop quitting and getting fired.:smack:
Meanwhile, mundane grrr for the day: The Boy graduates Saturday. Seating is limited for the ceremony (8 tickets per graduate, so those have been carefully doled out - me & Tony, my ex, four grandparents, and Girl 2.0.) I had planned to host brunch afterwards for extended family and friends, at a restaurant so that the ex wouldn’t feel as awkward. Called to make the reservation around the first, called back today with a final head count. <<< Note my reasonableness in this entire chain of events.
So today, I learned that the ex isn’t coming to brunch (via a text message to our son.) Fine. Okay, call with the head count - the restaurant can’t accommodate our party now. Oh, crap.
OK, plan B: I’ll see if my aunt will let us use the pond house up at the farm, and I’ll cater. Except that I can’t get my aunt on the phone. (I’ll ride out there tomorrow and beg, because Plan C is basically a weenie roast in the back yard!)
Start trying to put together a menu. The Boy has his heart set on brunch. I’m trying to put together a reasonable “picnic brunch.” Explaining to him why some dishes are absolutely unrealistic (graduation at 10 am, party at 1pm, right after the ceremony. I can’t fix poached eggs and hollandaise to serve eggs Benedict. Nor even scrambled eggs. Our goal is to avoid killing the elderly aunts and grandparents, so no, those can’t really be cooked ahead…) Meanwhile, my mom is having visions of a down home menu of turkey and dressing and stuff - completely the opposite of what we’re planning.
And I’m regretting that I didn’t buy beer while I was out earlier…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and sunny for the day. That’s actually a little cooler than usual for this time of year. I am Lector (the readin’ kind) for the nine a.m. service today which means I hang with the Luteruns. This is also YP’s last Sunday with us. However, a good friend is bein’ confirmed (affirmed to use the Luterun term) today so I’m glad I’ll be there for that. I might even hang around for the ten forty-five service which OYKW will be attendin’ just cause. Or not. We shall see.
In other news plans are afoot for merriment at the Cee-mint pond to celebrate Memorial Day, which is actually a week from tomorrow, but we shall make merry on Sattidy. Ribs ‘n chikin will be smoked. OYKW is makin’ a cheesecake. YUM! Sides will probably be baked beans and N.O.T. sallit or coleslaw. Maybe some hot wings for cee-mint pond munchies.
OK, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence.
I was exhausted last night, but when I went to bed, I couldn’t fall asleep - my feet hurt so bad! Then I heard a sudden loud noise - I was sure **FCD **had fallen or pulled something down on himself, but when I went to check, he was getting up to go outside and figure out what the noise was. Since it was dark and rainy, we couldn’t see much, and I checked the basement to be sure nothing had fallen there.
This morning when I took Higgs out, I looked around - nothing on the roof, no obvious trees or large branches down, so we have no idea what the noise was.
Anyway, after last night’s inspection, I sat on the couch waiting for my pulse to get back to normal, and I started falling asleep, so I finally dragged myself back to bed and crashed till about 6 this morning. Today shall consist of laundry, sorting and packing leftovers, sponge-mopping the kitchen floor again, and general recovery. But first, **FCD **wants to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel, so it’s time to shower and dress for venturing into public.
I didn’t want to post this yesterday and bring down the partying, but we lost someone at irk yesterday. Rocky the Parking Lot Raccoon was discovered sick on the patio at 8 in the morning. We chased him around to the parking lot where he hid under a car next to the curb. After half an hour he ran up to the side of the building and we caught him in a box. The Animal Control Lady said he looked like he had distemper, so she took him away to the Great Trash Can in the Sky.
A rift in the fabric of space from having so many Mumpers sitting on the same couch?
Did early worship because today is Motorcycle Awareness Day at PNC Park and I have tickets. They let us park in the street (which is always closed game days) right outside the gates. It is always much fun.
It looks like y’all had fun at the party Mooooom. I recognized you and bobbio, but am not sure which gentleman is metal mouse and which one tugig. ruble, I did wear a lift brace yesterday, against the therapist’s advice. I don’t think he figured I’d be back on so soon.
OK, second load in the washer, first in the dryer, dishwasher is just about done, hand dish washing is done, counters are wiped down, and I’m taking a break before cleaning the floor. The mopping last night didn’t get up all the stickiness.
Before the day is done, I’ve got to wrap and freeze some of the leftovers and organize the fridge, which is a disaster at the moment.
I had an email from my Navy friend - she called yesterday all confused - she was at the opposite end of our street. I didn’t get her voicemail till 9:25 this morning!!! WTF, AT&T??? So she drove all the way here from Alexandria and wound up going back. Bummer.
Howdy Y’all! All deheathenated and at da cave. I decided not to hang on for the ten-forty five service. This mornin’s Luterun style deheathenization included a weddin’ after the service was over. My great god child’s ‘rents got hitched. They wanted YP to do the hitchin’ up thus the reason for the weddin’ this mornin’. It was nice but it was amost ten-thirty when it was all over. I was ready to leave. When OYKW gets back from deheathenization I shall heat up leftovers from last night for N.O.L. After that, sloth shall ensue.
Second load in the dryer, third in the washer, first on hangers in the closets. I should probably put the clean dishes away. I need to clean the critters’ water fountain today.
Last load in the dryer. Dishes are all put away. **FCD **ate some veggies and N.O.T. salad that was left over. I still need to clean the fountain. I’s beat already!
Only got lost twice enroute to FCM’s house (once was my fault, the other I blame Mooomm for (she said follow rte 235 South instead of sticking with rte5)m but I found it and enjoyed the company quite a lot. Her mom is a hoot and has traveled even more than I have, her sis is mildly crazy (in a good way!) and bobbio and 2gig were most companionable.
Still cool and wet in DC when I left at 0830 this ay-em, when I got back to Huntsville at 0900 (thank you time zones) it was in the 70’s and not a hint of rain. Maybe we should move this thing south, FCM, you just have to figure a way to bring the food down here…<grin>
**MetalMouse **- glad you got home safely. And you are mistaken about my sister being mildly crazy - she’s flat-out bananas!!!
I think **swampy **needs to host a southern gathering - he cooks, he has a hot tub and a ceemint pond, and we could do our best to have his neighbors wonder about him…
Oh, and it’s still raining here. I no longer have a lawn - it’s a kelp bed! We might see sun on Tuesday…
I’ve finished the laundry, stowed the freezable leftovers, cleaned the critters’ water fountain, and generally tidied things. The floor will be mopped tomorrow - I’m just too tired to do any more today.
