There are two episodes of The Walking Dead left in 2014. We all know folks are fixing to join the choir invisible. This is the thread to make your predictions.
Ay death hanppening in the 23 November and 30 November episode counts. Why? Because I said so, that’s why.
Poll in a moment. Bear in mind that it’ll be multiple choice. Only characters already revealed, already named, and currently alive count.
A black guy, of course. They always kill off a black guy whenever a new one joins the cast, and one just joined the cast, so…
My guess as to which one is Tyreese, for a few reasons:
We don’t know the preacher well enough that we’d care if he dies.
We don’t know Noah (the new guy) well enough to care if he dies.
Tyreese doesn’t do much of anything except take care of Judith, which used to be Beth’s job. Now that it looks like Beth is returning, he’ll serve no purpose.
However, if they rescue Beth and she gets all snuggly with Noah, that changes my answer. The only thing they like doing more than killing black guys is killing Beth’s boyfriends.
I’m guessing that Ellis Dee has called it correctly (Tyreese, unless Beth and Noah get romantic; in that case, Noah). The showrunners know their fanbase, and the fanbase says There Can Be Only One (or maybe Two) Black Guys.
One complicating factor: Noah is one of the wholly-owned-by-AMC characters, like Daryl. (Any character not in the comics is owned by AMC.) Merchandise featuring these characters earns AMC more cash than does merchandise featuring the Robert Kirkman-created characters. This factor might tip the ‘likely to die’ scales in Tyreese’s favor.
No, I just wanted to vote for Gabriel’s dying multiple times. In a just world he’d have right leg eaten off by walkers, be saved by–oh, let’s say Judith–die of blood loss anyway, turn, be decapitated by Michonne, and later have his head stepped on by Beth.
Eh - the fellow broke in the face of truly horrible (and, in fact, civilization-ending) catastrophe. That’s not admirable, but it’s understandable. Can’t say that I feel the hate.
As to character deaths - you know, I’m going to bet on Carol. She’s had enough development that her death will pack a punch, and also solves the problem of Carol becoming almost too badass to be believable.
The actor who plays him essentially spoiled that he survives Abraham’s brutal beatdown on The Talking Dead after that episode. He was on the couch, as was an executive producer.
Late in the show, Chrish Hardwick asks him “So can Eugene find a new place in the group? Is there anything he can do to stay with them?”
The actor’s answer was, paraphrasing from memory: “Eugene will need to find a way to…<turns sheepishly to EP>…uh, well, we don’t know if he survived that beating, right?”
The EP then does a not-believable “We DON’T know. So IF he survives…”
They both laugh, then the actor continues on with his answer. Clearly Eugene survives that beating.
Are you trying to appeal to my senses of decency, compassion, and fair play?
'Cause I don’t have any of those. Lost 'em when I got hit by that radioactive waste in back in '77. Got super-hearing, flash vision, and the ability to bake in return, so I can’t say I miss 'em.
Unfortunately, it seems like they’re sending Carol on a path that leads to death. Long build up where she’s doubting her place and losing hope, then something will happen to convince her that she does belong and should still have hope, then BAM!
