NSEW: How far have you been in each cardinal direction?

Nifty! It never occurred to me that the bottom of the USA and the north of Africa share latitudes.

North: Bellingham WA

Based from the UK, and so far as I can work out (sometimes being GMT makes life easy) :
North: Tampere, Finland,
South: Stewart Island/Rakiura, NZ
East: I think Hastings, NZ
West: Costa Rica, somewhere or other.

Fairly broad…

South: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

East: Vienna, Austria

West: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

North: Portland, ME
S: Orlando, FL
E: Boston, MA
W: no clue.

N: St. Mary, MT barely beats out Kootenai Natl Wildlife Refuge (a couple miles NW of Bonner’s Ferry, ID)

North: Lulea, Sweeden (on the ground; in the air, well above the arctic circle)
South: Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean
West/East: many around-the-world trips, going both east and west, in a lot of countries, so not sure how to answer that.

Wrath: nah, been bitchy, but never Rambo
Greed: again, nope
Sloth: yup, I procrastinate
Pride: occasionally (see below)
Lust: and proud of it
Envy: no
Gluttony: yes

At the time I clicked “Quote” on this post the first mentioned had had 104 posts and the other had had 65.

As you can see, this thread has had more posts, and I’m wondering who posted in either or both of the other two threads. I could go copy the “Who Posted?” data on the three threads and build a list of the multi-posters, but I thought I’d just ask. Just for fun.

Do we need a spinoff thread that debates the East-West issue as mentioned in this thread any more than the one that indian already has?

North: Portland, OR (I was surprised that it’s north of Toronto)
South: Key West, FL
East: Boston, MA
West: also Portland.

N - London, England
S - Key West, FL, USA

Within the US…

S to Miami
W to San Francisco
East to Bath, ME

North: London, UK
South: Orlando, Florida
East: Paris, France
West: Michigan City, Indiana

I read it as NSFW: How far have you been in each carnal direction?

Um, to answer the actual question:
North: Slave Lake, Alberta
East (and South really): Lamu, Kenya
Alternate South: Costa Rica
West: Maui

It’s too obvious, isn’t it? And yet it didn’t even cross my mind. My only thought was to avoid NEWS.

Have any others of you heard that that is the source for the word “News”? It sounds as phony to me as some of the acronyms for our favorite words like http://wiki.lawguru.com/index.php/Carnal_knowledge

I always assumed “news” related to “new events and stories” and not the compass. On the other hand, I have seen many TV logos for their news shows employ a weathervane or similar device to spell out NEWS as if the UL were true.
