Great group! Are there any other NYers out there who want to join us? Everyone is welcome! Please come; we’d love to see (or meet) you. (And I, too, look forward to meeting those of you who can’t make it this time).
For those who aren’t familiar with the area, there are a bunch of places on 7th Ave. where you can get food, if you like. (When you take the F train, if you get on the back of the train, you’ll exit on 7th Ave. If you’re on the front of the train, you’ll exit on 8th Ave. The park is on what would be 9th Av., which is actually Prospect Park West).
I wish I could say I was indulging in gallows humor (well, not really). But it actually was stupidity.
I was thinking geography plus NYC history, and just binged it off and onto the board without considering the raison d’etre of cemeteries.
BTW, I just saw your other post about the candlelight vigil last night…sorry I missed you.
The Daily News said there were over a thousand people massed around Seventh Avenue and Union Street, so I’m not surprised we didn’t run into each other…
We are meeting at the 9th St entrance.
We can take the F train to 9th St.
We are meeting at 1 pm.
All the women will be topless.
We are each bringing our own lunch.
Do I have that right?
Zebra, if you miss the topless dancing at the 9th street entrance of Prospect Park at one o’clock once you get off of the F train at the 7th Avenue stop, look for the pink flamingo on a pole.
The 7th Avenue Stop. Not the 9th Street stop. You could get off at the 9th street stop, but you will have a very long walk to the park. Uphill.
Although I desperately want to, I won’t be able to make this one. All my best to everyone!
Just to sort of try to clarify even further what Biggirl said, the stop is called 7th Avenue and it runs under 9th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues with exits on both avenues. Whereever you get off, walk up 9th Street toward the park entrance on Prospect Park West (which would otherwise be called 9th Ave if it were numbered that way). Clear as mud? I think I need a nap.
And Zebra? You wish.

Just to clarify even more, while the F subway stop is called 7th Avenue, we are meeting at the 9th Street Entrance to Prospect Park.
For fellow Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill-ites, we can also take the B-69 bus. You can get on the bus on Vanderbilt Avenue, the bus goes due south along Vanderbilt, around Grand Army Plaza, and then down Prospect Park West. It lets you off right in front of the 9th Street Entrance.
And Ike, I knew I was going to get grief over that “smack in the middle of Brooklyn.” I was debating saying “smack in the north middle.”
Oh, and Zebra! Thanks for the reminder … I was going to go topless, but now I realise it’s probably a good idea to wear a hat. Sitting in the sun for hours, dontcha know.

To clarify delphica’s clarification of vix’s clarification of my clarification, the F train has a stop called 9th Street. If you are coming from Manhattan it is the stop before 7th Ave. And just to make things even more clear, the stop before 9th street is called Smith and 9th.

Without gory details, I woke up today with what you call your basic Major Dental Emergency – of all days! My dentist is not that far from Prospect Park, though, so I hope to see you all more or less on time.
