Just want to post to say that with my various family obligations (two kids under 5) and the fact that I travel for my job so home time is precious, I will not be attending, but will be with you all in spirit…
Totally off topic: If anyone has a camera or other electronic device that uses CompactFlash cards, we mistakenly bought two 64M cards thinking that our camera takes them. They can’t be returned, so if anyone wants to take them off our hands, talk to one of us. They cost $20 each, so make an offer.
I’m arriving at Grand Central at 4:30pm and will be a presence until about midnight Saturday. Can’t wait. Can’t. Wait.

Apparrently, our chauffeur is a major Giants fan, and wants to leave early Sunday in order to be able to watch the game (from Ohio; go figure). So, unfortunately (for me; fortunately for the fire code, I suspect), we won’t be attending the brunch after all. Sorry about the late notice.

Notice the if in that sentence. The snow is coming down like the chicks on Jeter, and my town doesn’t plow the roads. I’m not sure I’ll be able to make a two-hour drive at 8:00 tomorrow morning. I know the roads won’t be clear at 7, so I will be getting there at noon-15, not 11:15 if I get there at all. If anyone is counting on me being there for any reason, and wants to make sure whether I’ll be there or not, email me and I’ll work out a way to contact you tomorrow morning so you can know what to expect. Otherwise, I’ll just post in this thread once I figure out what’s going on.

I’m going to pack tonight and head out early tomorrow morning (about 7ish, and stop for breakfast on I-80 somewhere). So barring a sudden blizzard or something I’ll see y’all for dim sum.
Sorry I didn’t make it tonight - by the time I heard that the forecast had changed & there wasn’t going to be a snowfall of any consequence, it was already 6:30 PM; I just couldn’t bring myself to get dressed enough to go outside in the rain & get on an hour’s train ride at 8PM to leave again at midnight. I’ll see most of you tomorrow, I hope. I plan to drink myself silly (which is pretty damn silly, as Billdo could tell you.

Ok, I have to call it off. We have two feet of snow on the ground right now (my father just came home from work), nothing has been plowed on any of the main roads, much less my podunk town, and it’s not supposed to stop snowing here until noon. I really doubt they’re going to have the roads clear by 8:00, so I’m not going to be able to get to Poughkeepsie to take my train. I’m not gonna make it.

This is MannyL’s mother, he wishes to apoligize to the person he was meeting at Penn Station, he decided not to take the train in from Pt Pleasant but instead to take the path and is currently being towed to a Pontiac dealership because his car decided to shut itself down and will not re-start. He is fine, and hopes to make it in for dinner.
CajunMan and Dr. Matrix, it just isn’t the same without you two!
