I think you should come Ringo, since Sophie is coming too and it’s always nice when you come together.
Are there plans for child-stowage? Are you who’ve bred bringing your offspring or have you other means of ditching them? The baby is still mostly nursing so he and I are a package deal but the 4-year-old is NOT a delightful dinner companion.
Also, is anyone interested in having henna done? We can justify the expense if it’s a business trip! Email me privately.
Any more info from UncleBill and/or GeoBabe concerning the Museum of Natural History? The place is so big that one cannot see everything there in one day, plus they have the planetarium and the Einstein exhibit, which are additional charges to admission.
I’m pretty flexible with whatever is planned, as just about everything in the museum is great. I went there last summer and I really enjoyed the baseball exhibit (it’s no longer there though); the Einstein exhibit may be interesting too.
Perhaps a listing of people going to the museum too? At my last count I think it was somewhere between 12 and 15 people. People who are going can also mention what exhibits they are looking forward to seeing.
Banger,
As mentioned above, we’re meeting at noon at the Hotel Olcott, 27 West 72nd Street (10:30 if you want to go to brunch). On the short walk up to the museum from there, we can discuss what we’d like to see. It’s a little bit free-form depending on what people’s interests are.
Yeah, I plan to be together for the walk over, then break up into groups depending on interest, then meet up again later to chat and leave.
You and me, buddy.
I will of course be heading into the geology hall, so if anyone finds themselves feeling less than enthusiastic about rocks, I won’t be hurt if you decide to visit one of the other exhibits. We may have know-it-alls from other fields coming along as well.
So, according to the forecast, the weather’s going to be absolute crap - rain, snow, the whole nine. I suspect this is because I desperately want to go to the Dopefest - if I had nothing to do this weekend, it’d be sunny and 75.
Anyway, the possibility of snow presents possible getting-around issues for me & my wheelchair. If it’s gonna do anything besides flurry, there’s a very strong possibility that I’ll miss out on my first Dopefest. I am crossing my fingers, but don’t be shocked if I’m not there.
I haven’t checked in before since I haven’t had access to a terminal until just now. I expect to be there on Friday night, Saturday dinner and bar, and for the Saturday dim sum and subway tour.
See you then.
Hey, Billdo, I haven’t read this entire thread, but are you aware that No Idea’s name night name for Saturday is Billdo?!?
That means you get to drink for FREE from 5-11pm!
Note to self
Get fake ID with Billdo CocaCola as my name.
You made me laugh Biggirl; I’m coming to see ya this weekend (hack cough - if the Robitussin and the Sudafed don’t let me down).
Allright… Upon further scrutinizing the forecast (as well as some rationalization) I figure that I will get to America & No Idea come the proverbial hell or high water. I’m not as sure about Bleecker, as the weather gurus are predicting a couple inches of slushy stuff by tomorrow evening, with the chance that a bit more crap might fall & accumulate post-midnight.
And am I the only one who noticed how many times I used the word “possibility” & the various permutations thereof in my previous post? Oy.
Hooray! All packed up.
We’ll see everyone tomorrow!
Fucking weather.
I’m not sure if I can make it … if this friggin storm pelts New England the way it’s supposed to. Two inches of snow in Boston by the end of the day.
I may get in my car and leave as soon as possible (it’s about 5:30 in the east right now) to beat the snow.
This sucks.
Inches? What am I saying … two friggin FEET!!
So what’s the weather like down there? My dad just called me from Fishkill-ish saying it was pretty horrible. Am I going to die on my way down?
Hey, Eonwe, if we really get lucky, maybe we can crash into each other somewhere around Hartford. I’m driving down from Portland, ME. The most prominent words on The Weather Channel are – “Horrible Driving Conditions”.
But the worst of it is north of the city, and mostly in the afternoon. If I go at all now, I’ll be leaving within the hour. I suggest the same for you.
Getting ready to head out the door to catch my train. See y’all soon!
I’ll be leaving in about an hour here myself. I wasn’t planning on leaving until about 12, but figgered I’d better try to beat the storm as much as possible. Look for me on I-95 somewhere.
No flight delays again this year, no flight delays again this year, no flight delays again this year.
Well, as I learned two years ago, it’s not a real NYC dopefest unless you nearly get killed while getting there…
andygirl, too sleepy to switch out of Eonwe’s account
