Oak's NFL Fantasy League 2011

Why the hell do you care? You are not in this league, you are not going to be in this league. It’s none of your business.

And it was none of your business when you decided to butt your head into my business when I asked if there was a way to use yahoo to seed the playoffs manually. I wasn’t asking about whether it was a good idea, and you weren’t in any of my leagues, yet you decided it was appropriate to butt your head in and scold me for being a bad commissioner even though your argument was bullshit.

But then you turn around and do something far more egregious than anything I proposed, making you a hypocrite.

That’s why I care.

I don’t really care either way, but let me make the case for implementing some kind of keeper rules starting next year.

Because this league has wild scoring rules, luck plays into things a lot more than it might in other leagues. That’s fine, it’s a lot of fun actually and I don’t think we should change the scoring rules at all. But again, using me as an example, I had at least 3 games that I lost due to simple bad luck. My team scored well and the other team had a single player that just went off and blew their projected score out of the water. The case for the keeper league would be that in cases where you, for example, lost your first round pick to injury in the first game of the season you can start building for next year.

I would not advocate keeping more than 3 or 4 players from season to season, and I would think we would need some special rules in place. I think we have to say that QBs are ineligible to be kept (too valuable) or at least you can only keep 1 and that is with a fairly large penalty, and probably 1st and 2nd round draft picks are ineligible to be kept and only drafted players are keepable. I would also be in favor of a progressive draft penalty system where you lose the draft pick one round ahead of where the player was taken the previous year. Maybe put a cap on how many years you can keep a player? I am not sure. But put all that in place, do a totally scatch draft next season (no one keeps anyone, but now that the rules are in place they can play with them in mind for 2013) and keep rolling.

I would also be in favor of looking into implementing FAAB instead of waivers for player acquisition, again as a way of leveling the playing field a bit since the scoring is so swingy.

All right guys…final week of the fantasy regular season. Playoff spots are on the line. At the moment, I’m clinging to the 4th seed, but that could change depending on today’s results. Good luck!

I’m pretty sure we have another game after this. Unless you mean this whole week.

Oops…you’re right. That’s what happens when I post before I’m really awake. Dogs decided that our home was threatened by a marauding band of vicious squirrels this morning, and demanded to be released into the field of honor otherwise known as the backyard to do battle. Fortunately, the invaders were repelled, and the homefront is secure. No casualties on either side, but the invaders are sure to return.

Looking ahead though, I’m 99% sure I clinch my division and the no. 2 seed today if I win. If I win and IKN loses, I think I’ll clinch the no. 1 seed.

Looks like Division 1 is going to have 3 teams at 8-5 after this week, and the wild card spots will go down to the wire…

If you clinch the 1-seed this week, you gonna rest your starters next week?

11 minutes left, 5.88 points down.
C’mon Gates! Just don’t leave them in field goal range.

So here we go. Last matchup starts tomorrow.

Standings are:

  1. The Lorem Ipsums 9-4 2626 Pts
  2. Oilers (IKN) 8-5 2360 Pts
  3. Darnassus Druids 8-5 2543 Pts
  4. London Calling 8-5 2516 Pts
  5. Cliff’s Clavins 8-5 2513 pts
  6. Phoenix Redbirds 7-6 2278 Pts
Everything is still very fluid and none of teams face each other this week. London Calling and I are tied in the divisional record, so if he wins and I lose, they jump to the Top spot in the division. Meanwhile, IKN has a very precarious division record, but with the lowest points scored, he could fall out of the playoffs altogether with a loss. And even if everyone wins their game, with only 30 point difference between 3rd and 5th place, anything could happen.

Well, IKN has locked up the number 2 spot, and barring a 70 point game from Brandon Lloyd, I’ve got a number 1 spot. The wildcard spots are still up in the air though.

Things are looking grim for me. If Jackson has at least 2 points tomorrow, I will lose. Think if I lose and London Calling wins, I’m out of the playoffs. If we both lose, I may sneak in to the 4th spot. Cliff’s Clavins had a huge day, with over 250 points.

Brandon Lloyd could catch 12 passes for 220 yards and 5 touchdowns and I’d still lose.

He’s the only player to reach 250 points in a game and he’s done it 3 times.

I’m hoping that’s enough to push him to the number 3 spot, so I don’t have to face him next week.

sigh can’t say I’m all that happy about meeting you again in the first round. You’ve gone over 200 points more than any other team, I think…

Looks like I’ll be in the consolation bracket :frowning:

Oh well, had a good run for most of the year, just stumbled at the end. Good luck to the playoff teams.

On the other hand, you and the other playoff teams have also handed me 3 of my 4 losses.

Why do I have a week 15 matchup? Are we also determining the champion of the loser’s bracket?
