Well, the armed robbers and rapists also pose a more serious threat to PCP’s personal safety, so it makes a certain mount of sense to preferentially pursue lawn care guys and drywall installers…
Like Mexicans, you focus on Trump instead of dealing with Mexico’s shortcomings. Don’t Mexicans have any pride? I’d be embarrassed if my country was so far behind and all I could do is make piñatas of Trump as a response. Make Mexico great. I would put “Again” in that sentence but I don’t know if it ever was great. Why don’t Mexican diaspora make any sort of effort to change Mexico for the better instead of playing the role of victims all of the time?
Do you agree with me that deporting young people who are undocumented would be cruel? is legality more important than humanity? And if that is *not *your point, have you one? Just how much of a hard-ass are you willing to be? What are your limits? Many of these young people are serving in our military, you gonna wait till they are mustered out and say “Thanks for your service, now fuck off!”?
I agree that we need an intelligent system where people can come here and work if they want and a way to earn citizenship in service of their country. What I do not support is people condoning ignoring the law. I’m looking to move to the UK. Do you know how difficult that is? But why do I have to jump through the hoops and possibly get denied my work visa yet anyone who wants to plop themselves in the US is fine?
And I do not agree that deporting someone who is not an American along with the rest of their family is cruel. If they are Mexican or Canadian or Chadian they should be deported and have to go through the legal method of entering the US.
Hilarious. Do you think Mexicans aren’t proud of their country? Do you think there aren’t many, many Mexicans working to improve it? Do you know anything about Mexico? Because I assure you that Mexicans are fiercely proud of being Mexican and are working hard to improve their country, despite the efforts of corrupt, self-aggrandizing policians. In this, they’re a lot like the US.
But let’s turn that around again, since you focus on Mexico instead of dealing with Trump’s shortcomings. Don’t conservatives have any pride? I’d be embarrassed if my candidate was so willfully ignorant and all I could do is make vague, uninformed statements about Mexico as a response. Make the Republican Party great. I would put “Again” in that sentence but I don’t know if it ever was great. Why don’t Republicans make any sort of effort to change their candidate for the better instead of playing the role of victims all of the time?
Cite? Can you provide examples of Mexican diaspora trying to implement structural changes that would make Mexico better? Have they even recognized the problem?
I’m not talking about sending aid packages or building a school or sending over t-shirts with “Make America Mexico Again.” Who is trying to fundamentally change Mexico so it is on par with the United States? Please, if you have such information, please provide the links. Prove me wrong.
Let’s take somebody who may be too young to have any memory at all of Mexico, who may or may not even speak the language fluently, and who may or may not have close family there, and dump them back there, with a minimum ten-year ban on applying for reentry. You don’t think that’s cruel?
Remember, there’s no guarantee at all that they are being deported with the rest of their family, or that they have any family or friends back home. By definition, they committed no crime themselves, so you can’t say they are in any way responsible for the situation. Under current U.S. law, they didn’t have much opportunity to fix the situation their parents put them in, and they may have essentially no chance of legally applying for an immigrant visa. (We don’t take applications from random people who just want to make a better life for themselves. We take employer-sponsored applications and applications from those with close family members who are already citizens or legal residents, and if our teenager or young adult doesn’t fit into those categories, too bad.)
Some quotes:
“Though an estimated 300,000 people still enter the U.S. illegally each year, that represents a precipitous fall from the first half of the decade, when the number was 850,000.”
…
“Even though Mexico is clearly still struggling, there are signs that the country is gradually improving. Crime is down in border cities like Ciudad Juarez. Mexico’s fertility rate is falling and its population is aging, meaning there are fewer young workers scrambling for jobs (half of all Mexican immigrants are under age 33). For the first time in decades, Mexico has a fledgling middle class. Its GDP growth rivals Brazil’s, and economically, some economists think the country is doing even better than the United States. According to the OECD, Mexicans are about as satisfied with their lives as people in Iceland or Ireland are.”
…
“In 2007, 21 percent of Mexicans said they wanted to move permanently to another country. Today, that number is 11 percent, the same as for U.S. residents”
Traditionally, borders have denoted the area a country’s army will defend, and the area where a country’s laws will be enforced. This “borders restrict the migration of average individuals who just want to move” is a fairly new concept, and one that falls somewhere between stupid and evil.
I’m not a liberal, but I do think that restricting the right to move shouldn’t be a power any government has. But their racist and xenophobic electorates feel differently. So we start talking about people, themselves, being “illegal”. And people still think this is a free country? People actually think they’re advocating for freedom, the Constitution and the American way when they ban human beings from moving?
Oh look - Mexico has been making significant progress in recent years politically, economically, educationally and culturally. There are still many things that need improving, but it’s not some third-world backwater.
(Also: man, there are a lot of academic papers on the diaspora.)
By the way: what, no mention of the visa overstayer who tried to take a shot at Trump? If only PCP had been out there protecting us from such people…
But the “assassin” is white. So PCP doesn’t care…
We need to stop whitey from coming into our country and turning it more white!
That assassin, I don’t think he’d thought things through.
Really?
Soon, we will have restaurants all across the country, featuring British cuisine. This must be stopped.
As long as they have a decent curry, I’m all for it. ![]()
And if they are going to stay here they need to learn our language!
It’s fries not chips, its a trunk not a boot, and its a god damned eraser not a rubber!
Two things to know. If a recent female acquintance suggests that you “knock her up”, she is offering the opportunity to present yourself at her front door and politely request admission. Also, British girls pack a mean right cross.
That’s Indian, not British. British food is basically “boil it down until it has no flavor left.”
