of swallowed tears and sweetness

I find that when I force myself not to cry, I get a strange, unpleasant sweet taste in my mouth. I described the main character of one of my stories as experiencing the same thing, but then I got to thinking – is it just me? Because if it is, my readers won’t have a clue what the heck I’m talking about.

SO – does anyone else here get this taste, or any taste, when you swallow your tears?

I don’t force myself to not cry. Showing feelings are not forbidden for a guy. :smiley: (No, I re-learned how to cry, since my parents told me that boys don’t cry…)

No, but my face feels REALLY warm and my jaws hurt. And I’m female, but even for crying, sometimes it’s just not a good moment for it. When I’m driving is a bad time, for one.

Well, I’m female, but one who believes herself to be more stoic than she actually is despite an overdeveloped sense of empathy that means even stupid sentimental advertisements get to her so … I have a lot of experience in stiffling the ol’ waterworks.
