"Off Center"- why do me and my wife watch this crap?

Thur Nights, WB, 930
This is the show that stars the dorky guy that screws The Stiffsters or (whatever the hell the dudes name is) mom in American Pie
The script writing has horrible dialogue.

The jokes are juvenile college slob humor.

The acting is wooden.

It’s another ridiculous show where a bunch of 20 somethings are never seen working, yet all hang out in a real expensive apartment in New York

Conveniently, the characters are an Australian, and Asian, an African American and a white guy.

Yet- MY WIFE AND I CAN’T STOP WATCHING THIS SHOW, AND WE HAVE TO WATCH IT EVERY WEEK!

Can someone else who watches this junk tell me why me and my wife watch this? We are SO ASHAMED!:frowning:

Well, first of all, the characters from American Pie are Stifler and Shit Break. Just in case you were actually concerned.
I’m ashamed to admit I watch this show occasionally also. All your observations are correct in my opinion. Still, I watch, 'cause there’s nothing else on broadcast TV on Thursday night at what I assume for me is 7:30pm. Cheer up, you’ll probably have Scrubs to watch at that slot. I thought the season opener of Scrubs was pretty good last night.
You’re not the only one watching crap TV and wondering why. I do enjoy that the show pushes the censorship envelope, however.

You like Chinchilla hats and cock fighting humor and can’t find another source for it?

Well, I for one, think this show is damn hilarious. I’m not gonna turn my nose up at something that I think is funny just cause it has toilet humor. I don’t see why anyone feels like they have to apologize for liking this tv show. Off Centre rates up there right behind the simpsons and family guy for me. The comic timing is great and the punchline deliveries are always on the spot. So the acting may be bad, but cmon. We are’nt talking a show about the Holocaust here, we’re talking about sitcom about college-aged horny post-teens.

Yeah the show has a multi-ethnic cast, gee, when did that become a bad point for anything? I don’t think they are pandering either, because race does’nt even become an issue in the show. Not like me and my friends are ever at the watercooler going “Yeah that black guy says something real funny to that asian guy”. I always wonder how they can put 6 white people as the stars of a TV show, and no one thinks anything, but when they stick a minority in there, they think of them as the “token minority”. Oh yeah, and I think that guy is supposed to be british, not australian. Hence the british accent.

Well, sorry I sounded so accusatory in this post, but it seemed as if everyone was bashing it and I just thought I needed to defend it because I’m so tired of those safe, boring comedies being so popular.

I’m a fan, too. Especially of Chow. Yeah, there are horrible bits, but the later time slot allows for more risque hilarity (and complete misses).
