Geez, Scotticher, I totally missed that you were in B’ham! Next time I’m up we’ll have to have our own mini-Dopefest over some chicken-fried steak at Arlis’s.
dropzone: Actually the flying in So. Cal. almost can’t be beat! I learned to fly in the high desert, where the sky is a huge blue bowl stretching from horizon to horizon. But being in the PNW will probably make me get off my butt and finally get an IFR ticket!

Shoot, lawoot, where do you get the idea that Bremerton is the wrong side of the sound? I would have thought that Bellingham was the wrong side of the tracks if such a thing existed in this “Oh So Mellow” part of the country.

You are on, Johnny, just let me know when you are going to be in town, and we will have a dopedate. Or a DopeFest, I think I recall that there is at least one other doper in this area, from Mt. Vernon, IIRC? Or maybe he/she decided to get a life outside of this board. Not that there is anything WRONG with that, but it seems inconceivable to me.

Yeah, but flying where there is enough open space to land in an emergency is for wimps. 
Although the rocks and likelihood that you’d die of thirst before they found you is cool.
In the high desert you can even get that huge blue bowl on the ground. In the PNW the sky is what’s directly above you. Flying and boating on the ocean would be the only ways to get a horizon. Some people like trees but these are farmed trees, in neat rows, all the same height–TALL. It’s claustrophobic.
Scotti & pluto: I’m interested in meeting some Puget-Sound area dopers too (I’m in Bellevue). If I can help out in any way, let me know.
It’s an old childhood nickname… I like trains, and when I was two I would see one and go “woot-woot”… and it stuck from there.
I get up to B’ham about three times a year… I’ll have to look you up…
Almost forgot… Bremerton is DEFINETELY the wrong side of the Sound. Unemployment’s higher, people are poorer, none (or almosts none) of the high tech jobs… Basically the Microsoft induced boom on the east side of the Sound never happened here.

Hi all, The LAST time we set up a doper meeting, it ended up being Pluto and myself chatting over Thai food, as no one else showed up 
However, we should all meet. I currently live in Redmond, but am looking for a house in Sammamish or Issahquah.

I had no idea there were so many local dopers! Cervaise and I live in Seattle, and we would be up for a PNW dopefest. I’d been thinking of starting a thread about it, … and here it is.

If anyone knows of any jobs that I can start in January, I’d love to hear about them!
(I think I can live on about half of what I’m currently making. So I’ll consider data-entry for 10 bucks and hour, and work my way back up from there!)

Greetings fellow Puget Sound dopers. I been thinkin’ about getting a DopeFest on up here since someone (pluto? Scotticher?) mentioned the idea in the “Where you from?” thread.
I live near Green Lake in Seattle.
Mebbe we should start a roll call thread and see just how many we could pull into a fest…
