Off to the rodeo, a delayed MMP

um, Happy Anniversary, BBBobbio??

I think I’m going to go wake my spousal unit and drag his butt to breakfast. I’s hongree!!!

Happy Anniversary Bobbio!

I’m up, the coffee in brewing, and as soon as it’s done, I can wake the rest of the way up.

Going out to dinner with some friends tonight, and then over to one their houses to play 99, laugh, have good conversation, maybe do a little dancin’.

It’s supposed to be very nice today, so maybe I’ll get a little yardwork done too.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Well, except for BooFae where it’s Good Afternoon. We went to brekkies earlier at IHOP. 'Twas good. Then we went by  WallyWorld  which I thought would be a real zoo on Sattidy mornin’ early but not too many folks there. Plans today include loungin’ at the pool. We invitated two good friends (JDD and his partner) to come by and lounge with us. Nuttin’ big just hangin’ out. I got stuff to make sammiches whilst at WallyWorld. Sammiches shall be the order of the day when it comes to eats at da cave.

Happy early Vunderversary!

Happy anniversary, Bobbio! Hope your day is Vunderful!

Looks like we’re all up now. Kids are eating leftover pizza for breakfast: we ordered last night and couldn’t get them up to eat. Looks like I’m the puppy’s favorite chew toy. OW.

No word on my coworkers brother. He’s been missing since Tuesday morning. I have a real bad feeling about this.

Kids are excited: next year they’ll get to be in band! Our school system has never had a band program for sixth graders before, and the one obstacle was that they had nowhere to practice at the sixth grade school. So at the end of the day, they will get on a bus and head over to the junior high for band. They are bouncing off the walls with glee.

I have about 20 minutes to get ready for Commencement. Of course then I have to wait an hour for it to actually start. Grargh, did they have to do it so early?!

Congrats Bobbio

Happy anniversary to you!

Been spending the morning cleaning out my old pantry, removing shelves and recreating it as a new utility closet. It’s great! I’ve a good spot for the vacuum, brooms, cleaning supplies and all that right in my kitchen. I am absolutely loving my new kitchen.

Happy dance!

Shiny Cat**: Congrats on your commencement!!

Good thing I got my quote of exciting underwear done for the week!

Hello everyone, it’s good to be back. Irish Boyfriend and I had a loooooooooong journey to Belfast in which volcanic ash played a major role (delayed for six hours in London Stansted) but we managed to make it with a minimal amount of snapping (on his part, anyway, I never snap ::angel face:: ). We arrived Tuesday late evening and the funeral was Thursday, and Wednesday was a blur of events - they had an open casket in the study on Weds, which was very odd for me as we don’t do that in Korea, and everyone teetered between determined cheerfulness and tears, and by the end of the day we had callers coming out of our ears.

The funeral day itself went smoothly, as things go, and I think everyone found it somewhat of a relief almost. I felt a little awkward because I hadn’t known IB’s father very well, but he was very kind to me when I visited last summer, and the family couldn’t have been nicer about allowing me to share in their grief (I know that sounds a little odd, but grief seems such a private and sacred thing to me - I was truly touched that they treated me like I’d always been part of the family at such a difficult time).

I was also the only not-white person at the funeral and stuck out like a sore thumb, and I could see that some people were a bit confused by my seemingly random presence.

Anyway, we stayed for a week after the funeral just to help Irish Boyfriend’s mum cope with the aftermath. She has been incredibly strong throughout all this and I really admire the way she’s handled her grief. I can’t imagine losing a lifelong partner like that. Just the thought fills me with dread.

My parents are not happy about the fact I accompanied IB to Belfast and I got an earful from my mom about how it’s not “proper” for me to be there when we aren’t married or engaged. I dunno, maybe they had a point. Certainly I wasn’t sure in the beginning if my going was for the best (I didn’t want to be in the way at such a time, you know?) but now I’m glad I did. I’m glad I could be there for my boyfriend and share his grief.

So we’ve flown back to Seoul to finish up our semesters so we can head back in a little over a month. I have an avalanche of emails to sort through and am absolutely dreading going into work on Monday. Eek.

Busy morning! We took our trash and recycling to the convenience center, went to lunch, ran to Petco for aquarium salt, then to WalMart for water for the aquarium. Yes, we buy water filtered thru reverse osmosis because our well water has something in it that encourages red algae growth - apparently being an agricultural area, there’s stuff in our water table. So we buy fish water. And we drink out water - it’s actually quite tasty. MMMMM agricultural runoff…

Anyway, once we got home, I unloaded the van, since **FCD **is still not supposed to life more than 10#, and he rinsed out the garbage cans. Then he took off for the boat and I just finished making a batch of burgers. It would have been a bigger batch, but one of the packages of ground beef looked funky - kinda gray - so I tossed it.

I need to get myself in gear and get out into the yard. I want to get the work done, but I don’t want to get sweaty and grubby in the process. What a quandry!!

Daughter and friend are spending the day in DC - she said she won’t be home for dinner. I’m thinking weenies on the grill will be supper. And beans. And some other stuff…

But first I need to get work done. Yeah. I’ll get on that.

Rainy Saturday here. Laundry is laundering, and I took Dad to the used bookstore. I just ate lunch - leftover chicken pot pie and zuccini gratin. Nom nom nom!

Later we will go up to our little bar, and eat some BBQ and later on watch the stand up comedian. I hear he’s very good!

Done with my killing spree.

Poison ivy must die!!!

I planted some gladiolas bulbs, then mixed up some spectracide and attacked the poison ivy in the areas we’re likely to go. I tried to be careful with the overspray so I didn’t kill anything I wanted to keep.

Unfortunately while I was walking about, something bit my left hand and now it’s all swollen and feels weird. An ice pack seems to help, tho.

I think I need medicinal ice cream.

Why do I wake up from a nap STARVING, even if I just a the couple hours earlier, but I wake from from sleeping all night unable to eat?

It always happens: If I nap I can eat the house.

Soapy napping burns calories. I thought everybody knew that!

Haze yay you’re back! I say good on you for bein’ there for IB. He needed you there and his family knows that. That’s why you were so welcomed. It’s a weird Anglo thang. We appreciate those who want to help us through times like that. So, of course his family loved havin’ you there.

Today has been grrrrrrrrrreat! Nice day at the pool. Good friends, cold beer, water’s great and of course sammiches. Oh and JDD and partner brought cheese cake. Chawklit cheese cake. YUM!

Ok, need to get gussied up as OYKW is finished gussyin’. We’re goin’ to eat dindin at the great Japanese place courtesy of JDD and partner. YUM!

ShineyCat CONGRATS!!! Happy Commencin’!

I hear dat!
In most mornings (read: those in which I am out of bed before 7am) I cannot eat (chew, swallow) for a good two hours (thank Og for protein shakes). But I just woke up from a two hour nap and I’z hooongry!

Yeah. What the hell’s up with that!

Happy Saturday everyone! We are busy spring cleaning, so this is a drive by. I did want to say thanks to Rebo for sponsoring my membership, I was feeling very left out there for a while!

#1 Daughter will be over later with family to make taco cups for dinner. I’ll let you know if they are blog worthy.

Ta for now!

HOLY COW!!!

I just came to post that I was making my TACO CUPS for dinner tonight!

And they the yum.

Hey! The trees…they have leaves! This morning there was just a hint of green…this evening, it’s definite! Leaves! They don’t waste time once they start leafing. They don’t really have very long, so they shove 'em out fast once they finally shove 'em out. Yay!

Give it a week or so and it’s going to start getting really pretty. To think I actually look forward to summer now because it’s green and pretty and warm! I like winter. It can come back in a few months. For now, I will bask in leafy greenness.

Saturday Evening [del]Post[/del] LOL

Cute! And voted for!
