We ran to the diner for a late sammich. Now we’re back. I’m showered and de-grungified. **FCD **is watching some vampire movie. I’m thinking I’ll go back and try out our new memory foam mattress pad.
Daughter called to tell us they’re going to a movie, then they’ll be home. She’s just bringing her friend here rather than driving an extra hour to take him home. Bonus - he’ll be able to help us move some furniture tomorrow. And lest the dirty minded among you thing something untoward is going on with the newly separated, um, no. Her friend is a nice kid, but he’s definitely not her type, beyond being a friend. Plus she can’t afford to get involved with him - he can flat put away some groceries! When he’s eaten dinner here, we have no leftovers!
I finally finished the last of my afghan squares. Now I just need to decide how to lay them out, then sew then together and edge around. Easy-peasy. But not tonight. Bed beckons…
Sounds like it was a good thing you went, Haze. Might not have been right for Korea, but sounds like it was the right thing in Ireland. Glad you made it back safely.
Did I wish the Vunders a happy anniversary yet? I think I forgot. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
LOLs made me smile, rosie.
What kind of taco cups, ladies? There are several types of recipes out there.
Had a lovely plant exchange this morning. Scored a bunch of cool plants; some for me, some for my neighbor.
Got home, took a break, then went out to put stuff in the ground.
Got about 1/3 of them done. New hostas look really nice. Planted hostas, coreopsis, echinacea, ferns, Virginia bluebells, woodland hyacinths, impatiens, and others I’m forgetting. Moved several plants, too.
Went for a walk and now I’m having an entertaining Firefly marathon. Had some spinach/feta pierogies. Yum. Also some peas. And a glass of champagne.
Almost ready to fall asleep, I think.
Prom 26 have come and gone. It was a ton of fun to have a houseful of people and teens in evening dress. Will post pics when I get them. House is clean, so tomorrow I get to goof off. Yay!
Skyped with Daughter and she showed me around her apartment. Nice! She’s living in Boston this summer, taking summer school and working.
Did read, but didn’t retain. Off to bed soon–very tired from Prom 26 (it turned into 13 couples instead of 12).
Husband and #1 son are at the ER. I let my son buy a pocket knife. He’s 11. I thought he could handle it: he demonstrated he knew how to open and close it safely. What’s the first thing that happens? He gets hurt. I don’t know if he’ll need stitches or not, so hubby took him to the ER just to make sure. Our daughter asked him to cut a part off a huge walking stick she found, and that’s how it happened.
I feel really freaking guilty.
Ogbligitroy durknen psot! Da Bear be durkn. Da Bear must ush tomorrow. That’s ok though. Da Bear will survive. Or die. Either way it’s all good.
Rosie the lolcats have been a source of great giggles for da bear.
Oh and if two saki martinis make da bear happy, ummmmmmmmmm… several (given the fact that da bear did not drive) bein’ more than two and da bear does not remember how many more than two he had… makes da bear a very, very, durknen bear who is probably goin’ to be taken advantage of, but like I said, it’s all good!
Promise me y’all will be nice to a very painfully hungover bear tomorrow.
kthnksbyee!
-swampbear (who thinks tomorrow’s hangover is gonna be a baaaaaaaaaaad one! Oh, and apologizes for the over use of the
smiley)

ETA: Jules don’t feel guilty. It’s life. Your son will be fine. This is one of those in years to come y’all will laugh about it things though right now it’s not. Really, your son will be fine. Aww heck, {{{Jules}}}
One more thing… YAY for a successful prom rigs! Can’t wait for the pics.
Thanks, {{{swampy}}}. I promise I will be very nice to you tomorrow. I won’t yell or anything!
Five stitches. Hubby says he’s doing fine. Life.
Scruffy must die! Between waking me at obscene hours on the weekend and peeing in the house, I’m about ready to send her to a farm in the country. Oh, wait, we live in the country…
In less than an hour and a half, she’s barked to go out 3 times. And that’s on top of the 2 overnight pee spots. Maybe she needs to go to the vet before I fillet her. Stoopit dog.
My new mattress pad is really comfy. Except for the part where I woke up with a killer leg cramp, but I don’t think that’s mattress pad-related. I was also having mixed-up stupid dreams involving a line of people going to church, an elevator that was a bathroom, miscellaneous kittehs, a conversation about gyres, and a woman named Martha who farted so bad, she soiled herself. And unlike swampy, I wasn’t drinking last night. Sometimes my mind worries me.
Jules, you know kids are going to do stuff and get hurt. I expect when you were a kid, you did stuff and you got hurt. But we learn from the stuff we do, right? Theoretically? Unless we’re a drunken bear??
Anyway, I’m sure your kid has already figured out some of the details of handling a knife. Plus he’s got 5 stitches - that’s gotta be cool for a boy, right?
It’s all overcast this morning. It’s not supposed to rain today, but maybe it’ll be cool enough to work without heat stroke? There are a few things I want to do outside, including pushing the mower in the ditch. Ugh - I hate that chore. But with future-ex-SIL gone, looks like it’s on me again. Till FCD’s back is healed…
Happy Sunday!
So, I actually slept for 10 hours last night. That never happens anymore. Usually I can’t sleep for more than 5 hours.
It’s been a long weekend already and it isn’t over yet. Lots of craziness going on around here.
I’m sad to say that my favorite Great Uncle has been taken to Hospice. As I think I’ve mentioned before, he’s in his mid eighties and has been battling MS for a long time. We went to go see him yesterday and he was still cracking jokes with me in spite of everything. I don’t know what else to say, but I will miss him greatly when he is gone.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! It’s a little bit painful but not too bad. I’m told it was six saki martinis. Glad someone kept count. I guess.
StickyBuns I’ll keep your great uncle in my thoughts and prayers.
MOOOOOOM I trust the elevator/bathroom had stalls for privacy. Otherwise that would be awful to have to watch while on the elevator.
Jules glad your son survived. Like MOOOOOOM said, five stitches to a little boy is a cool thing. I’ll bet he can’t wait to show off to his buddies.
I need to motivate and clean up for churchification and ush duties. Plus I’m getting taken out for breakfast. YAY!
Later Y’all!
Scars are sexy. He’ll thank you at 16.
You’re a great mom for letting him get a scar.
Sticky Buns Good thoughts to you and your family.
Good morning, swampy. How’s the head?
I really, really, really need to win the lottery, or marry a billionaire. The ends are not meeting anymore :(:(:(:(
here is a great big hug for everyone
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
plenty to go around
So very tired. Feel rode hard and put away wet. Lost voice (incipient cold?). #1 son, date, another couple and a stag (date had gone on ahead to next destination–I don’t understand young people these days…) arrived back at the house at 1220 AM. Apparently major drama re bus departure. “Brad” (dunno Brad) insisted they ALL leave Prom at 1045. WTF? No details, as I am mother to a male. Must talk with #1 son’s GF or GF’s mother soon for more.
Ache all over. Should be doing any number of things today. Chance is a fine thing… I have to work tomorrow? Inconceivable.
Breakfast has been ingested. **FCD **is back at the boat. I ran by WalMart for a few grocery items and some kitteh litter. Daughter and her friend are doing up salt water for an aquarium water change later today. I’ve vacuumed the guest room so they can bring up the furniture to go in there.
I also vacuumed the dining room where I have to shampoo after stoopit little dog. It’s a nice warm, dry day, so it should dry quickly.
Then, who knows…
Rotissed chickie for supper. And that pretty much sums up my day. Except for thinking up the next MMP. Lucky for me, the bar hasn’t been set too high of late.
All righty then. Aquarium water is warming up. Furniture is in guest room. Dining room carpet has been cleaned. I’m sweating. I’m enjoying a cold beverage. I really should go outside and do something, but I sure don’t want to…
I had an absolutely awesome time last night with my husband and friends. We went out to a Japanese Steak House for dinner, accompanied by drinks, then we went to one our friends’ home where we danced, played 99, had several more drinks and laughed and laughed and laughed.
It was one of the few times I let myself get a little far gone, but I’m feeling fine today.
We ended up staying the night there, because neither of us were in any condition to drive.
I’ve stuff to do around the house and I need to shower and clean up too. Before I do that, I should work out too, I guess. I should hop to it.
Oog. I’m tired. #1 son is just fine. Dad took pictures of his stitches while at the ER. He goes back in 2 weeks to have them removed. He’s kind of upset that he’ll have the stitches in until the end of school, but he’ll live.
I didn’t sleep well last night. Havocdog kept coming up on the bed and laying right on my head. I think a bender would have been easier to handle.
Swampy, hope you’re okay today. I promised I wouldn’t yell, so I won’t.
Lots of good thoughts for you and your family, Sticky.
Glad your son is OK, Joolz.
It does sound like Scruffy maybe needs to get to a vet, FCM. Seems like there must be something wrong…
Glad you had fun last night, Taters.
Interesting prom drama, rigs. Looking forward to pics.
I’ve been to church and have run errands and am heading back out to the garden.
ETA: almost forgot to send hugs and good thoughts and prayers for your family, Sticky.
Back later.
