We’ve had the two worst candidates maybe of the entire history of the country.
Anyone heard from asahi lately?
He posted earlier in this thread.
Nate Silver’s variance estimate is looking a lot better than Wang’s.
I blame Comey for this…she was doing just fine before that damn thing about the emails at the final hour.
Correction: We have the stupidest, most assholeish, least intelligent electorate in the entire history of the country. GodDAMN!
Very true but after the Midwest and East comes into focus there’s not much that could shift out West to change things. That’s why I’m especially worried about Virginia.
I had thought that Clinton could lose FL, NC, OH, and NH and still be OK (as long as she got MI, WI, PA, and VI). She’ll get PA, WI and MI, I think, but this Virginia thing is worrying me.
Well, a lot of Americans are really, really, really stupid.
Seriously folks you all didn’t see this shit coming?
Look at the horror of the 1st Bush II election and the vitriol coming out of it. Look at the heinous shit that has spewed forth - from both sides - since Obama took over.
You’ve got a woman few people can stand with a soft following and a guy few people can stand with a hardcore following just because they hate anything that isn’t red, WHITE, and blue (with a dick).
About 20 years ago Canada had a referendum to see if we’d keep Quebec. It was a campaign full of anger and bigotry (against French people) and I had little doubt that the referendum would succeed and we would “allow” Quebec to stay in Canada.
I was right. It passed by 50.6% to 49.4%. Canada seems to have seen the results and collectrively said, “Holy shit!!! what did we almost do?!?” Relations have been much better since then - not perfect but better.
Here’s hoping you all have that sort of near-miss and awakening and smarten the fuck up.
You’ve been acting (by proxy) like little snotty kids for a dozen or so years now and that is why you are chewing on your nails right now.
I truly hope this election serves as a reckoning and you have a chance to grow from it.
Yikes! Sam Wang tweets:
"OK, I sense that maybe I should be researching bug recipes.
Luckily there are no sore winners on Twitter!"
What do you want to hear? Hey, I told you all that this was going to be a potentially close race.
That said, I don’t quite understand the panic just yet. Trump is not walking away with this yet. It’s just heartburn close. I thought it could be. Now you had DSeid and everyone else lecturing me on how the numbers don’t lie or some shit like that.
Are there even enough votes left to be counted in Florida for her to make up the ground? Only 3% left.
Fairfax County, baby. Fairfax County.
I lived there a couple years!
538s results coverage mentioned this from OHIo exit polls
NYT still has VA as 95% Clinton. Look at the remaining counties and you’ll see they’re all heavily Democratic.
Well, if you want to trust the NYT’s little predictor tool ( I wouldn’t, necessarily ) it is virtually ceding him Florida and Ohio and strongly leaning his way in NC. However for some reason they’re almost certain Clinton will pull out Virginia. We’ll see.
51% Trump likelihood at NYtimes.
Oh, I was just going for a little levity. God knows we all need some!
Ah bless you guys, you so cute when you give the world reality TV in the oval office.
I don’t know. I’ve been trying to do the math.
Miami-Dade County: 94% of precincts reporting, HRC is up by ~287K votes.
Broward County: 63% of precincts reporting, HRC is up by ~266K votes (this looks like her best chance to pick up the votes she needs to pull ahead)
Palm Beach County: 93% of precincts reporting, HRC is up by ~94K votes.
Overall, Trump leads Florida by ~141K votes. Not sure about other counties that haven’t reported.
On a related note, Trump just went to 53% chance of victory in the NYT prediction. Take that with a grain of salt.
