Sorry to say I agree with this. I was watching Joe Biden being interviewed the other night. He was talking about why lower-class Americans feel so un-empowered and angry right now. He nailed it, and he came across as empathetic. He would have wiped the floor with Trump.

Yes, that’s fine. I’d maybe respond to point out that his support was manifested a long time ago, but since he’s never repudiated it you’re certainly entitled to argue he still supports it. In any event, that’s a fair summary.

True. After 2008 OFA should have focused on grooming a generation of successors to Obama. But, part of the matter was that even after the Obama upset a large part of the leadership were still people who owed something to the Clinton/DLC faction – so for the sake of 2012 it was just “why yes of course Secretary Clinton will have her turn free and clear when he’s done, just help us now.”
Beyond the specifics of this candidacy, furthermore the Democratic Party establishment has got to stop Playing Not To Lose, that is a terrible strategy except maybe in soccer football. They need to be seen as wanting to give us their best shot to see if it pulls out a win, even if it is something different, unusual. THAT worked in 2008.
Yeah, that’s the thing: the state may not be the one “throwing” anyone anywhere but empowering parents to so abuse the minors in their custody is constructively just as morally bankrupt and people will see it as a real social threat.
I went to bed around 11 last night with a sinking feeling, given the coverage on CNN, then woke up a little before 5 and checked the news. I was horrified to see the result. Donald Trump is fundamentally unsuited to be President and I suspect his administration will be a disaster. I still love my country, and I treasure American democracy, but I can’t help but think that the voters got this badly wrong.
We all need to take a deep breath. The United States has survived bad Presidents before, and we will again. This remains a great country and we will get through this.

Have we ever had a con artist in the White house before? I’ve read his books, and every deal he makes is forfeit once he gets what he wants-That is the “art” of his deal.

Not gonna happen. I have a feeling he needs to make deals with both Russia and China-that may be the primary reason we will never see those tax returns.

Considering the fact that Trump has screwed over pretty much anyone who trusted him, the best we can hope for is that all his campaign promises were lies calculated to get him the power to exact revenge on everyone who has ever crossed him. His supporters’ lives won’t get any better regardless. Of course, being emboldened to be the assholes they’ve always wanted to be may be enough for them.
What debts did his tax returns hide? What kind of dealing is he willing to do with China and Russia to take care of those debts and/or come out ahead personally? I think we just put the bull in the china shop, then told him he gets paid per piece of broken china.
I believe criminal, but maybe not. The fact that information on it is so hard to find is strange to me.
