It deserved them?
I still think Hugh Jackman should host again.
Why doesn’t Neil Patrick Harris host?
Hosting the Academy Awards has gotta be the most thankless job in the industry. Can anyone name a comedian OTHER than Billy Crystal who got positive reviews from hosting? I think they write their slams before the ceremony even airs…
Robert Downey Jr. Oscar host?
NPH did the Tonys and he was AWESOME!
Hey, they haven’t done Bring Out Yer Dead yet, right?
Edit: Jennifer Hudson is sure solemn, isn’t she?
Gwynneth Paltrow thinks she’s a singer now? That Country Strong thing she was in looks unwatchable to me.
Oh, silly me! That’s all I was looking for, thanks!
Best Original Song: Randy Newman’s forgettable song from Toy Story 3.
What’s with Jennifer Hudson’s strange accent? She’s from Chicago!
Because it’s a great movie, with great writing, great acting, great direction, great editing and pretty much great everything else. That’s why.
You might need friends with better taste in movies.
Man, all four of the nominated songs were crap.
Ya know, Downey Jr. and Hathaway as co-hosts. That would have worked big time. Franco’s seriously starting to get on my tits.
Steve Martin was fairly well received, as what Whoopi at least one time she hosted.
Good grief! I can’t even agree with the board on the Oscar telecast. I thought Robert Downey and Jude Law sucked (awkward, stiff, bad timing). I think the broadcast is enjoyable, and Anne Hathaway in particular is doing very well. She’s animated, fun, game, elegant, and hasn’t hit a bad note. Granted, she’s not Billy Crystal but who is? (Uh, besides Billy Crystal, that is.)
Can’t say I love Randy Newman’s music, but I thought that was a great acceptance speech.
Bring out your dead after the break!
Get ready for the montage.
I’m not sure I follow the logic of your question then.
It simply was the best in each of the categories in which it won. It had a great screenplay by Aaron Sorkin who has one of the best and most unique voices for dialogue in television and cinema. It had a unique but powerful score that had nuance and was less obvious and domineering then Hans Zimmer’s also strong score. It had great editing because it involved three narrative timelines including multiple flashbacks and POVs.
It will win Best Director because David Fincher is overdue and he’s that good and it will win Best Picture because it was the best film out of those nominated.
Anne Hathaway is fine, but James Franco is stiff as a board and looks completely uninterested in what’s going on. I don’t get it. He’s even nominated for Best Actor! He should show some energy!
Fuck Randy Newman in his fat retard ass. It’s bad enough Tangled didn’t even get a best animated oscar, but now Toy Story’s stealing the one oscar it was actually up for (and deserved about 1000x times more than that same usual Randy Newman shit).
The main reason she’s there is, of course, because she’s Oprah. The fact that she was once nominated is a handy extra justification for having her there.
Well, there was this guy whose birth name was Leslie Townes Hope.
I’m not getting the hostility in the responses to my question. I didn’t say the movie sucked - I said I hadn’t seen it and the subject matter didn’t appeal to me as much as other nominated films. I actually thought I would get something more substantive in response than insults. Sheesh.
