Someone who I had previously thought was a pretty sweet and cool person, and who I tried to be considerate of in the other thread, especially once I found out you’d been raped, and apologized insofar as I felt I should and backed out of the thread which then continued on for a very long time without me. I would have thought you’d scarcely remembered me. But no…instead you come charging in here completely out of the blue like some avenging trailer-park barfly and call me a cocksucker. And for what? For nothing more egregious than trying to explain what **duffer **might have meant by his Mensa comment, since he appeared to be away at the time.

Hey, this is still a relatively young thread, duffer. Surely you have enough antagonists around that would love to come here and bash you, they just haven’t gotten off work yet, or they just haven’t found the thread yet. Have you thought about going into some of the other threads here and in GD and inviting comments?

This is a trend I’ve been seeing more and more of lately. It’s amusing, to say the least. (Aren’t conservatives supposed to support rugged individualism and less of the “nanny state” And yet I see quite a few here whining about how unfair it all is.)

Well, speaking for myself only, I think this is a matter of misperception on your part, and on the part of most of the other liberals, independents, Green Partyers, and what have you around here. (As you can tell, I’ve been corrected for sometimes referring to someone as a liberal when they weren’t.)
I’ve mentioned several times in explaining my sometimes prolific posting style to others that I often find myself outnumbered 10 to 15 to one in a particular thread and that in order to answer everyone I have to post that much more than they do. In every single case, I’ve been accused of complaining or whining about this being unfair. This is not so! I am simply stating a perfectly obvious fact and the effect it has on the number of my posts. Yet all the lib/Dem/Greenies, etc. in these forums – who are so anxious to grasp at any straw in their efforts to feel they hold the higher ground – gleefully proclaim this to be whining on my part. I suspect similar misperceptions at work with regard to the postings of my conservative counterparts as well.
I almost forgot again…aren’t we supposed to be bashing duffer here?

Hey, pal – you really don’t have to state the obvious. We know you’re outnumbered. It’s not relevant to the substance of your rebuttal, so you don’t need to repeat it, as it will undoubtedly sidetrack at least one respondent into raising the “whining” issue. Frankly, it DOES come across as whining for you to say it again and again, even though that’s not your intention.
So, if I were you, I’d just make my points without the “outnumbered” aside, perhaps with an eye to encapsulating your response to a number of posts in one reply, if the arguments seem close enough to justify that. I doubt that many people are keeping score on who makes the most posts in any particular thread, in any case. It’s my observation that most Dopers are looking for the substance of the message (if only so they can gleefully refute it), rather than grasping at any opportunity, no matter how tenuous, to trash a perceived opponent.
And now, back on track: duffer, what is your stance on guinea fowl? Helmeted or vulturine? Your standing with me hinges upon the correct response!
