I got two elderly cousins on Long Beach Island right now. Nobody’s heard from them since Sunday. (I didn’t find out they were staying, until Monday afternoon. If I’d known they hadn’t already headed down to Florida for the winter, I would have called them up and begged them to leave.) There is no power, extremely spotty cell phone coverage. Nobody’s going to be allowed to return to their island for another 9 days; only emergency personnel are allowed because of ruptured gas lines and downed powerlines and other hazards. We very simply can’t find out if they’re alive or not until they contact us. They probably are, I’d like to think, judging by overhead video of the damage in their very local neighborhood, but their lives have just been turned into nightmares in any case.
Watch this video; everything in that first clip, from the yellow house off its foundation until they cut to Christie, is their hometown. The rest of it is elsewhere up and down the ENTIRE COAST OF NEW JERSEY. There’s an estimate of 20,000 people trapped in flooded buildings in Hoboken ALONE. Take a minute and flip through some goddamned pictures like these and say with a straight face that this storm was MILD and that anybody who says otherwise is trying to create a distraction for Obama’s sake or whatever. For christ’s sake, even Christie is telling Fox reporters to fuck off with their bullshit election politics.

If I’m reading that correctly, it doesn’t appear as if Brown did much wrong in the quoted text. He found a trainer who was giving liposuction (!) to horses, imposed sanctions, and then got sued by the trainer. The organization successfully fought off the first lawsuit but with more on the way and mounting legal bills, they decided it would more cost effective to settle than to fight.
Is that an accurate summary? If so, what did Brown do wrong?
Well, for one thing, he was head of an organization that had an official policy on horse liposuction.
Well, somebody gave him a radio personality job, so I guess there is some market for the whiny ‘it is somebody else’s fault that I failed in my patronage job that I had no qualifications for!’ crowd.
The fact that Brownie can get paid for being a whiny git is more proof that all those 47%ers who haven’t parleyed their own whininess into cash are just lazy slackers.

I wonder if this guy is getting money under the table from the Obama campaign. He’s carrying the message of “we can’t go back to the same policies that got us into this mess in the first place” more effectively than speeches and millions of dollars of ads would.
Either the guy is a double agent or maybe some incompetents never get competent. They will screw up anything they get involved with because they just don’t get it.
