I know you have been very busy driving the sun across the sky each day in your chariot, but I was hoping that I, the least of your minions, could beg a moment of your precious time. You see, Cecil, there is a poster named aha. As I am sure you know, aha has been busy sucking up mightily to jdavis and Ed Zotti, your fearless SDMB administrators. I fear that aha has started to fancy himself as a being aproaching their worth, and humbly beseach you to say hi to me. I do this not with the misguided belief that such a greeting will in any way elevate me above the level of street scum, but in the hope that such a move would bring aha back down to Earth. He is a nice guy, just gettin a bit cocky. I will not use this recognition to advance my own pitiful agenda in any way, but simply as an example of how we all exist mearly at your sufference. I humbly beseach you to reply to my request, or, at least, refrain from smiting me for the hubris I have displayed in adressing you directly. I remain,

I saw a thread somewhere in which somebody counted the number of times Cecil actually appeared to mortals, and the percentages were something like, “He only appears in Comments, and sometimes in Mailbag Comments, and never in MPSIMS.”

Well, to be specific, sarcastic jokes about how oneself is actually a sock puppet aren’t that much fun anymore.
But jokes about sock puppets (How many Celts does it take to screw in a light bulb? Depends upon how many CalifBoomer just said were needed) are still funny.
I like your content but your delivery is lacking. Too damn slurpee and obvious to be taken seriously. The big guys like to be finessed. They like to be sucked up to without you actually telling them that you are sucking up to them.
However your butt kissing thread does shows promise. If you ever need a hint from the master of butt kissing please let me know.

And here we see aha and weirddave fighting for the coveted SDMB Board Whore position. aha was took the lead right out of the gate, what with getting a response out of Ed that helped to touch off yet another shitstorm (good job, aha!), and maintained it with a response from the SDMB Technical God Jerry. weirddave has revealed his strategy by holding back, biding his time, and heading straight to the top. Inspired move, I’d say. aha’s showing signs of fatigue, what with his desperate attempt to undermine weirddave and his subsequent appeal to Cecil himself.
Who’s gonna win this one, y’all? Only da man himself knows…
