Just as it says. This Monday was my university’s fall career fair, so I donned my suit and went, as I am graduating this December and don’t have a full-time job yet. I talked to lots of people and gave out some copies of my resumé. I got some good information and collected a fair amount of papers about opportunities for accounting majors. Later that day I signed myself up for an interview with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
Two days later, my slacker’s slumber (I was still abed at nine in the morning, as I had nothing to do until eleven) was broken by the ring of the phone. It was a woman who had not been at the career fair, but had gotten my resumé from the director of career services. You have to go through their office to get to the switchboard office, where I work, and all the folks who work there are friends with us operators. So the caller asked me to come in for an interview. I also got a message back from career services that I’m no longer on the standby list for an accounting firm I tried to get an interview with. As soon as their sign-up list is up, I’ll get an e-mail about it, and I can sign up.
So that’s three interviews. I honestly didn’t expect to get any; I was a bit pessimistic, and there were lots of other people with better resumés than I. Shows how much I know. I will admit to being just a little excited.
